Vehicle Detail
This was my Dad's car until he passed about 10 years ago, I'm pretty sure he bought it new in 1996. After he was gone, my stepmother kept it until she passed last November. We inherited it, and brought it home thinking it would be a great daily driver. It was, and we put about 3000 miles on it. Problem is, we really need a pickup, and not a big 4 door sedan. I bought a Chevy Colorado, so now "Big Red" needs to find a new home. The car lived it's life in a garage in Kingman, Arizona where the folks retired. It was always garaged, and both my Day and Stepmom maintained the car at the local Ford/Lincoln dealership in Kingman. This was literally the grandparents car, that only saw the light of day to get groceries, and an occasional road trip. Once I got it, I went through it to make sure it was dependable enough for my wife to drive back and forth to work. Below is a list of service and repair items we did to the car. Replaced serpentine beltRadiator and cooling system flushFuel injector service & decarbonizationComplete interior and exterior detail including a buff and waxReplaced both front air springs and new actuator valvesAir suspension pump replacedAll motor mounts replacedFront end alignmentBrake fluid flush and brake system inspectionFull synthetic oil change with filterFour wheel balance and tire rotationI had the local Firestone dealer do most of the work, and also had a multi point inspection done. The car has been 100% reliable, and drives much like it did back in the day. The paint is shiny, but there are a few nicks and dings here and there, see pics. Way less than you'll find on another 22 year old car though. The interior is also darn near perfect. The only interior issues are a crack in the drivers arm rest and some glue where Dad apparently tried to fix some trim that was coming loose on the door panels. He got it glued back on, but some oozed out it looks like. It runs great, and is a solid car. There is a rattle in the dash that I've chased and can't seem to find, maybe you'll have better luck. Also, there is a hard 1-2 shift on occasion. I took it to a transmission shop, and they said it's normal for this particular transaxle, and to leave it alone. Guy said it is an annoyance, but is unlikely to fail or cause any other issues. Three of the four tires have about 60-70% of the tread left, and one is brand new. All are the same brand and match. I took it to CarMax and they gave me a ridiculous low-ball offer. They did say the car was in amazing condition, and I had several of their appraisers marveling over it. See the picture of the report, and note all the Conditions Assessed are listed as "Good Condition". Everything works, all switches, lights, controls, ride control (Firm, Normal & Plush) steering effort settings, six CD changer, radio, power windows, power door locks, power seats, HVAC controls, ice cold air, cruise control, etc. Comes with two sets of keys and two clickers. The seats and mirrors have memory settings that recognize the clickers when you unlock it. This Lincoln is basically a time capsule. It's amazingly clean and low mileage considering the age. Now that said, it is 22 years old, and something could conceivably fail. There's no warranty nor guarantee on this car at all. It is as-is, where-is so please know that it is 22 years old. My wife is still driving it, so the miles may go up. I listed the mileage at 82,500 but it's really at 82,149 as I type this. It obviously doesn't have Bluetooth or a USB port (Duh) but we bought a cassette adapter to plug into our iPhones. It works and sounds great, and it'll be in the car when you pick it up. Bonus #2. You get six free Neil Sedaka CD's that my Dad left in the CD changer. Rock Out to cool 70's jams like "Bad Blood" and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do"... $500.00 due via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. Balance due via cashiers check in 10 days. Or, cash in person on pickup. If you're paying by check, the car does not leave my driveway until the check clears. Absolutely no exceptions on this. This may seem harsh, but I got stung with a very real looking fraudulent cashers check once, and it's not happening again. Shipping or pickup is buyers responsibility, but I'll work with you and your shipper to make it easy as possible. If you want to drive it home, I can pick you up at the airport.
