Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a numbers correct, clear titled, 1974 Honda CB200 "cafe racer." My winter project bike. I bought this 45 year old stock bike last summer from a gentleman in WIS (see last photos taken prior to, and during, tear down). He had it sitting in his garage for the past 10 year. He started and rode it around his neighborhood periodically, to keep the fluids flowing through it. He had planned to turn it into a vintage race bike (which is funny since these little 200cc bikes were never known for their speed or power) but he lost interest. The bike was stored correctly and had very little rust but lots of good age-related patina, some of which I left on the bike (see photos). I semi-stripped it down and updated/replaced many of the parts to give it that cafe racer look. Most all of the parts taken off were saved and are included in the sale (...if wanted). Frame was left alone and uncut. Bike starts up instantly, with a push of the button, no need to choke. Idles and go thru the gears OK. All electricals were cleaned up and work as they should. A list of notable things I did to it: Installed brand new sealed battery, Avon AV83 Streetrunner tires (front/rear), new vintage style bullet turn signals, LED rear brake light/running light, new megaphone exhaust silencers/mufflers, wrapped header pipes, air pod air filters, spark plugs, grips, bar end mirrors (2 sets), sprockets, fuel petcocks and lines, touched up frame with gloss black paint, gas tank was removed, rust treated inside, stripped, and painted with 70s-style metallic green paint w/ clear coat, new gas cap w/ lock, clubman handlebars, gold O-ring chain, headlight grill, side numbers plates (removable), new beautiful "special order" cafe racer seat, decals, "period correct" spare key, battery tender pigtails, wire wraps, fasteners, etc. I also fabricated an "under seat" tray to hold relocated electricals, and a rear brake light/licenses plate bracket. Chopped front fender and painted front headlight with yellow fog. This is a very cool and unique little bike. With that said it still needs a few things done to push it over the finish line: 1. The speedometer/odometer does not work. The trip works. 2. Front brake was not working when purchased, however, I was able to get it to work for a short time but now it's not working again. I think it just needs some fiddling around with. 3. It runs and rides BUT rough, so it will need "dialed-in" and the carbs adjusted and/or possibly rejetted to accommodate the newly installed open exhaust and air intakes. 4. Center stand bumps into new silencer when up so, if desired, you may want to bend it out away from it a bit. Kick start lever is in the process of being fabricated/bent so it can be used as a back-up (it is not currently on the bike but is included in sale, once I get it back from the shop). NOTE: I have lowered my "reserve price" to reflect these final needs. I'd like to see this little bike go to a home with someone who is familiar with this model and is used to wrenching on a vintage Honda motorcycle. Good luck and happy bidding!
