Vehicle Detail
First year 500T Mostly original paint!! 1975 Honda CB500T sidecar outfit Frame Number: CB500T - 1000214 Engine Number: CB500TE - 1000321 Honda's original CB450 KO 'Black Bomber', a very sporting ohc twin from a maker, hitherto, of lightweights, came as a revelation in 1965. Honda developed the middleweight range and in 1975 introduced the CB500T. A development of the old CB450, the CB500T kept its predecessor’s twin-cylinder dohc motor almost unchanged apart from a longer stroke, while the deliberately ‘classic’ styling evoked memories of British bikes of the 1950s. The CB500T achieved a top speed of 110mph and returned over 50 miles per gallon overall when tested in 1975 by Bike magazine, which particularly liked its “punchy, seemingly unburstable motor… healthy degree of stability and excellent braking.” Built in July of 1974, the CB500T offered here was recently the subject of a full re-commissioning and service with new tires and battery. It starts easily, idles and runs well, and with some attention given to the brakes, it stops just as well. The bike offered represents an opportunity to gain love and admiration from friends, family and strangers alike, from the Globe sidecar mounted American-style to the right side of the bike. A copy of the inimitable Steib sidecar, it features a luggage rack and detachable screen. A fun and reliable rig!
