I loved this car so much I bought a newer one in December. This one needs some work, but the engine runs great. I will try to list all know issues to the best of my knowledge so you have honest / accurate expectations. rust: The primary reason I chose to buy a new one over putting some money in this was the rust. It has rust at the typical Xterra locations, most significantly the rear door wells. transmission: I had the transmission fluid changed a couple of years ago. Since then it shifts hard / erratic in some gears. But still shift thru all gears. exhaust: the exhaust fell of a few months ago. It is not as loud or obnoxious as I would have expected. windshield: although you can't see it in the picture, the front windshield driver side is cracked tires: need to be replaced, especially the front right. belts are showing. The spare looks good, so would swap that immediately. I just don't have the time. battery: since I have not been driving this regularly for the last 4 months the battery went bad. ABS: the fault light comes on and if I brake hard in a turn it kicks in. I believe one of the front sensors is bad. Fault codes: there were a couple of codes last I had it checked. the knock sensor and I forget the other. The mechanic told me they both were more for emissions than fuel efficiency. Rear gate: sometimes it will not fully release. usually locking / unlocking a couple times will get it free. key release: sometimes I have to tap the gear shift into to park a second time to release the key.
