2004 FORD F-150 STX 4X42004 Ford F-150 STX 4X4 Shortbed PickupTruck has 147,000 miles. Was running well and on road daily until last month.Now making rattling engine noise, and running slightly rough.Was told by mechanic it "may be" the timing belt tensioner. My son has been driving the truck for the past 4 years, and he decided rather than fixit he wanted to buy a new truck, so this one sells "as is".Truck still runs and drives, makes good power. We drove it to and from mechaniclast week (20 miles each way) without an issue.ABOUT THE TRUCK:Regular cab truck...there are small back doors, but no back seat...a small storage area behind seatsAuto trans, 4WD with manual transfer case on floor.STX is the base truck...roll up windows...manual adjust seats...nuthin fancyTruck has average wear for it's age. Paint looks good from 20 feet but there are some dings, scratches, chips2 years ago it was hit from behind at traffic light. There is a dent in the tailgate, and the hitch electrical hookup was damaged (photos included).Kenwood aftermarket sound system.....sounds good.Interior needs a good cleaning...there are stains on the seats (seatcovers might be the best bet)Gas fill door broke off, was never replaced. Aftermarket black grille on the truck, original grill included in sale.General tires were installed last year on stock Ford aluminum rimsMagnaflow exhaust was installed 3 years ago, exits in front of passenger side rear tire. Nice exhaust note, not too loud.ABOUT THE ENGINE NOISE:As I stated, we drove the car to the mechanic. Without tearing it apart, he felt the issue was the timing belt tensioner. He estimated the repair cost for that job to be 2 thousand bucks. I have no way of knowing if that is or isn't the problem, just trying to be upfront about the condition of the truck. INTERESTED?This truck has been rock solid dependable for us since we bought it, and with some attention, I'm sure thatthere are more years of service in it. I would encourage anyone who's interested to come see it before you make a decision.If you have any questions, just ask....I will answer them as quickly and honestly as I can.We are not trying to make a killing selling it...as you can see, the price is very reasonable. I'd like to see someone get some use out of it.
