Vehicle Detail

Please scroll down below this description for tons of detailed pics of the bike. Depending on your internet speed, they may take a while to load. I have the listing set up to accept bids only from US bidders in an effort to prevent scammers from ruining the auction. If you are a legitimate bidder outside of the US and you have a way to have the bike picked up at my location without it being crated, e-mail Chris Bednas at anyoldbike@gmail.com. Provide me with your ebay ID and confirm that you can arrange international shipping and have the bike picked up uncrated at my location near Chicago, and I will add you to the list that allows you to bid. This is a numbers matching 1964 BMW R60 in very nice, mostly original condition. The mufflers are NOS but the rest of the bike is a true survivor with only 24,942 miles. It has scratches and chips in the paint, surface rust here and there, and pitting in the chrome as seen in the many pics below, but it is a beautiful bike to look at overall. It just received a complete tune-up from a vintage BMW mechanic with decades of experience. The valves were adjusted, the ignition timing was adjusted, the carbs were cleaned, synchronized and tuned, and the engine oil, gearbox oil, driveshaft oil, and final drive oil were all replaced. The bike fires up easily with a single kick and settles down quickly to a nice, lazy idle. The engine is incredibly quiet at idle and under load. It has excellent power and shifts smoother than the average Slash 2. The suspension feels great and it handles beautifully. The only minor issues are a rear brake that feels a little weak and a horn that is not working. All the lights work as they should. There are 172 pictures below detailing the condition of the bike. Please look at all of them carefully and ask any questions you have before bidding. You can call Chris at 773-474-1744, e-mail me at anyoldbike@gmail.com, or contact me through ebay. It's located in Berwyn, IL, just west of the city of Chicago. If you are local and would like to see it in person, please call 773-474-1744 to set up an appointment. Shipping a motorcycle can be expensive, so be sure to look into it before bidding. The zip code is 60402 to help in figuring shipping. My recommendation for a great shipper is Danny at D&K Services. He can be reached at 973-534-7823. Winning bidder picks up in Chicago or arranges for/pays for all shipping/crating. I can deliver it locally for $1.50 per mile round trip ($20 minimum). $100 deposit via PayPal due within 24 hours of auction close. Remainder via one of the standard payment methods within seven days. No PayPal for remainder unless you contact me first. The bike is to be picked up within three weeks of auction close. $25 per week storage fee after that.
