This is a rare milestone Mercedes roadster only produced for one year 4.5L V8 Engine Small European Bumpers No Catalytic Converter Power Windows Power Steering MBTex Seats in Very Good Condition Power 4-Wheel Disc Brakes 3-Speed Automatic Transmission 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL Description The Mercedes-Benz SL name has always signified a certain level of automotive style and sophistication, and each new generation seems both to define and be defined by its era. Such was the case when the R107 model SL came on the scene in 1972. The family of models existed with minimal changes until 1989, a remarkable production run for a luxury convertible. With the R107, Mercedes debuted a V-8 engine in the convertible lineup, which was necessary given the new SL’s relative heavy 3,400-pound weight. For the first model year only, ’72 models were badged as 350SLs in the United States even though they were equipped with the larger 4.5-liter V8 designed specifically for the U.S. From 1973-80, the designation was changed to 450SL. 1972 and ’73 models were equipped with desirable smaller bumpers. Buyers in 1972 could choose standard color-matched hubcaps, as shown here, or pay extra for 14-inch aluminum alloy wheels. All U.S. 450SLs had 3-speed automatic transmissions. This 350SL came from the factory painted blue metallic and has been recently re-sprayed with black paint and clear coat. The interior is beige MB Tex and is in excellent condition with only a minor repair on the bottom of the passenger seat (too small to show up in the photos). The dash has a few cracks so it has been covered with a new dash overlay. I did not glue it down since some folks prefer it that way. The adhesive and instructions that came with the dash overlay will be included with the car or I can glue the overlay down if the buyer desires. Recent maintenance items include replacement of weatherstrip for convertible top cover, seals for right and left side A pillar posts, trunk lid seal, right and left side headlight doors, engine shock absorbers, inner and outer tie rod ends, front sway bar bushings and drop links, rear sway bar drop links, steering coupling, center and rear mufflers, spark plugs, changed engine oil and filter, and new 3-point seat belts. The caps for the brake fluid reservoir were cracked so I bought a complete reservoir as the caps were not available separately. The reservoir will be included with the car. Also included is a cart assembly and cover for the hardtop. The clock and trip odometer do not work and the tires are old and should be replaced. The soft top is older but in good condition with clear plastic windows. The manual radio antenna does not go up all the way. Note: Use 'Buy It Now' and I will include four new Coker Maxxis MA-1 tires. These whitewall tires will look great on this vintage roadster! Included below are over 75 photos of the car to give potential buyers a better picture of the car. Additionally, I strongly recommend a pre-inspection before placing a bid. Remember, the winning bidder is legally obligated to purchase the car. Under no circumstances will an inspection be allowed after the bidding is over!
