Vehicle Detail
I bought this car about 13 years ago in South Carolina from the 2nd owner who had owned the car the majority of its life. When I first purchased the mustang it looked very stock from the outside but had several modifications including the turbo and several other mods you will see in the build list. In my time with the car, I focused on mechanicals, tuning the engine, suspension/handling, and looks. The car drives much better than new and the original black interior is in great shape. All paint is in great shape and original, except for the front and rear bumper covers that have been painted to match (they faded with time). Things needing attention to be perfect: replace the headliner that comes loose on the sides above the windows, roll the rear fenders so the 295s no longer rub on extreme angles of approach/departure (or switch to 275s), and get some touch up paint for the spoiler/side moldings.*Rare factory sunroof.Modifications prior to my owning:Engine:Pro-Turbo Kits Street DominatorT-66 Innovative Turbo (1.05 A/R turbine, .81 A/R exhaust) - no shaft playIntercoolerTiAL 38mm wastegate with .6 bar (~8 psi) spring.Greddy Type S bypass valveSnow Performance Alcohol Injection kit, with low fluid indicator, and rising rate regulator.X2C Motorsports TKO v1.0 Tranmission, a TKO 600, with the 26 spline input.Ford Motorsports (FMS) 42 lb fuel injectorsMMR RBT700 Clutch Pro-M draw-thru mass air meter, cal'd for 42 lb injectors.Walbro 255 lph in-tank fuel pump3G 130 amp alternator (brand new) upgradeGriffin Aluminum 3 core radiatorChassis:FMS aluminum driveshaftModifications while I owned the car:Converted the car to 5 lug axles with disc brakes front/rear-Front used 1995 Spindles with 2004 Dual Piston PBR Calipers-Rear used North Racecar rear brake brackets and 5 lug fox length Yukon axles-Installed 1998 v6 booster and master cylinderWhile installing the new rear axles, I rebuilt the rear differential and axle housing with Timken bearings throughout (didn't need it but they were free as I was a mechanical engineer for Timken at time)Installed front/rear cobra bumpers, exhaust tipsInstalled Moates Quarterhorse and used Binary Editor for tuning the engine.Installed new tires/wheels from Wheel Replicas-255s front and 295s rear-Saleen Series 117 S Style Wheels, 59mm center capInstalled Bilstein shocks and 1" lowering springs all the way aroundRebuilt front end with new ball joints and tie rod endsInstalled all of the following from Maximum Motorsports:-Full Length Subframe Connectors (professionally welded in)-Camber/Castor Plates-SN95 Brake Line Adapter-Panhard Bar-Torque Arm-Front and Rear Spring Isolators-Adjustable rear lower control arms-New Rear Springs matched to the 3-link maximum motorsports recommended spring rateInstalled thermostat controlled electric fan/shroudInstalled new timing cover gasket, thermostat, water pumpProfessional 4 wheel alignmentStereo upgraded with 4 new infinity speakers/amp/headunitI had the paint professionally buffed out and waxed knowing this day was coming.TUNINGThe mass air meter has been tuned for the 42lb injectors, so, by simply turning the timing on the distributor back to 0 degrees, you can run up to 8psi of boost and make wonderful power without risk of spark knock. I wanted to learn more about tuning so I purchased the Quarterhorse and Binary Editor and have made simple tune adjustments and datalogs. The turbo is large enough to make at least 15psi of boost but I have never passed the 8psi. I have the alcohol/methanol setup to come on at 7.5 PSI and spray continuously. Right now the car needs a tune. It does great until you get into the boost. I lost my program and no longer have time/energy to recreate.*When the 2nd owner installed the TKO600 transmission (5 speed manual rated for 600 lb-ft input torque), he left the speedometer cable unplugged for some period of time while he was trying to find the correct speedo gear to go in the transmission. He told me the car has maybe 5k more than what the odometer showed. I trust this friend has told the truth. That being said, I marked the new VA title as mileage shown is not accurate for this reason. I have also replaced the weather-stripping between the (2) doors and rear hatch. I wish my other cars would sound like this mustang when I close the door - what happened Detroit?I have had some questions that I have answered for folks so I thought I would share them here for everyone:- How drivable is the car? Very - as much as any other car. I have taken it on many 6-7 hour drives from SC to VA, etc. - The A/C works wonderfully and I have never had any problems with A/C or heat. I topped the charge off on the A/C about 6 years ago and haven't touched since and it has performed wonderfully. I wouldn't own a car without good A/C. - When I upgraded the brakes, I added a line lock to lock the front brakes for burnouts, etc. - The flash on my camera makes the seats look kinda gray, they are nice and black. This item is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end auction at any time.
