Vehicle Detail
Fun to drive 1997 Land Cruiser with Cummins 4BT diesel engine custom transplanted by Proffitt's Cruisers in Colorado (now Proffitt's Resurrection Land Cruisers). You can watch his TV episodes to check out his work and learn about his great reputation. This Land Cruiser drives over snow, sand, mud, smooth cement or anything with it's nice Cummin's torque, a 5" lift, and locking hubs. However it was mainly used as a daily driver/commuter. The Cummins 4BT engine has less miles on it than the vehicle, but the exact difference is unknown. According to its reputation, this engine still has a lot of life in it. I love this Land Cruiser and am only selling it because I'm now driving an EV with Pacific NW electricity. I've used this Cruiser with both diesel and biodiesel over the years, keeping those injectors nice and clean. It starts quickly every time without the need of a glow plug. For a 1997, it is in a nice condition. The leather interior surprisingly has no rips or tears and looks good for it's age thanks to a lifetime of seat covers hiding the original leather. Thule roof racks are included for hauling something fun on the roof. Things that could use some future mods but not required: I removed the original AC several years ago because the transplant configuration needed improvement. Now Duiser in Oregon sells a well thought out machined aluminum mounting arm for the Cummin's 4BT conversion to accommodate an AC. In our home climate, the AC hasn't been needed. But, it would be simple to add an AC back on with this aluminum arm. As is typical with most FJ80 Land Cruisers, the power windows move really slow in the winter and improve when the temperature warms up. I've had three FJ80s, and this was normal on all of them. This Cruiser can be picked up here in Port Angeles, Washington Sate or shipping is usually easy to arrange. I can be contacted with questions at mike.olson@mervin.com
