Vehicle Detail
1972 Chevrolet Blazer with 350 engine, 4 speed transmission, NP205 transfer case, 3.73 gearing, factory A/C, five near new tires, and mostly original. Assume odometer has rolled over. Front bumper and winch are not included in the sale. I’ll reinstall original chrome bumper with working turn signals. Interior Dash pad is cracked. Has hole in dash where aftermarket radio was. Dash oil pressure and water temp gauges don’t work, but aftermarket gauges do function. Speedo and odometer work. Gas gauge works, but isn’t accurate. All dash lights, horn, and wiper/washer function. Heater works, but the bottom plastic duct piece needs to be reinstalled. A/C compressor comes on, but doesn’t blow cold – likely needs refrigerant. All A/C system vacuum-controlled dashpots function correctly. Front seats and back seat need to be reupholstered. Steering wheel is cracked. Aftermarket roll bar installed. Bed is clean with no rot or damage. New pads on parking brake, clutch, and brake pedals. Exterior Five near new traction-style 235 85 16 tires on steelie rims. Cool Selectro looking hubs. Rocker panels and front of rear quarters behind rockers have rot. Body has some dents and dings and possible bondo elsewhere. Hood has dent on front. Grille has a broken piece on left lower corner. Rest of body is clean. Frame, body mounts, torsion boxes are very clean. Underside of doors are clean. No rust around windshield frame. Door hinges are clean, tight, and no sagging. Window roll up and down, but are stiff. Glass has tinted film. Driver’s side door sticks some and needs to be adjusted – gap between rear of door and front of rear fender is larger than on passenger side, so some adjustment is needed. Rear hatch opens and closes ok, lifts up, and stays up. No keys for locking it, though. Top is in good shape with no cracking other than around rear hatch brackets, but could benefit from a coat of paint. Factory gas tank and transfer case skid plates. Exterior lights and turn signals all work. Mechanical Engine appears to be very original and runs great. Has HEI ignition and original Rochester 4 bbl carb with factory thermal choke set-up, and dual exhaust. Good oil pressure at warm and cold temps. Smokes on start up and has some oil leaks. Right side valve cover leaks. Steering is tight and tracks straight. Brakes work good. Transmission shifts nicely. 4wd works fine. At approximately 50 mph and up, rear end whines. PO said he’d rebuilt rear diff, but if so, he didn’t set it up correctly. I’ve changed all drivetrain fluids and noted no unusual conditions in the old oil. I’ve changed engine and drivetrain oil, coolant, replaced spark plugs – old ones showed no evidence of oil fouling, added a hot water shut off valve, replaced one of the vacuum dashpots for the A/C system, added a coolant overflow reservoir, and added an aftermarket windshield washer pump that works with the factory knob. In addition to other parts mentioned, I’ve replaced the horn relay, steering column turn signal and hazard switches, A/C relay, heater distribution box, driver’s side exterior door handle, and other miscellaneous stuff.More photos availabe upon request.
