Vehicle Detail
Up for a NO RESERVE auction is this sharp 1954 Chevrolet Belair convertible. We have owned this convertible for nearly 35 years. It has excellent, smooth running inline 6-cylinder 235 w/a powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission. Both the engine/trans were professionally re-built nearly six years ago and now have approx.4000 miles. This Belair has several rare factory options for 1954 including power steering,two-way power front seat and power windows just in the doors. The body is straight, solid w/no rust or dents. We had the car repainted several years ago using PPG single stage urethane paint in the original factory color. It presents very well and is of driver quality. The floors, trunk pan/tire well, mounts and chassis are rot-free and solid. The interior/dash is in good condition w/no rips or tears. It was re-upholstered in color correct vinyl several winters ago.Exterior chrome is bright, shiny and presentable. Many of the chrome pieces were replaced with new ones in 2013. Pieces such as the tail lights, rocker moudings, parking light housings, scripts, emblems, badges, window frames and the hood bird.A fresh new white convertible top was installed last winter also. The top is power but we have always operated it up/down manually. Our mechanic informed us years ago that the top pistons need replacing but we never felt it was a priority.Along with the new top all the glass was replaced with new including the windshield. The car will need a few small things repaired including the radio, vacuum wiper motor and heater. They currently are not working. Tires are older polycord wide white walls but are showing their age(dry, scalloping). The brake system was totally restored in 2017 including all brake lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, hardware and re-built master cylinder. A new replacement fuel tank, fuel gauge sending unit and line were installed at that time also. The battery is a new 6-volt deep cycle. We have owned the car since the early 1980's and have enjoyed driving it every summer on Cape Cod but just seem to have less time to enjoy the old convertible so we've decided to sell the car to someone who can.The Belair has never been registered or titled. We always drove the car with a borrowed repair plate.Back in the 80's it was not required to title a vehicle in Massachusetts that was over 10 years old. We bought the Belair with a bill of sale so we're selling it with a bill of sale only. I have been informed that there are title companies that can provide you with one if your state requires such to register the vehicle. Any questions feel free to ask/message me. Good luck bidding! This is A NO RESERVE auction.
