Vehicle Detail

Thank you for interest in my 1970 Porsche 914! The car is equipped with a 36mm Progressive Weber Carb set-up. The transmission has been changed to the more desirable side-shift, and shifts smoothly through all gears. The car is red in color and looks well from a distance, yet up close you will see some scratches, and bubbling in areas. The car was purchased by me in 2004 from a gentlemen in Alabama. I drove the car home to central Florida. The car was driven and enjoyed on a daily basis for a many years, but developed a gas leak under the tank area. The car was garaged and has not been used since. The car moved with me from central Florida to Jacksonville Fl where it has been for over 3 years sitting in my garage on jackstands. Again I want to be clear this is not a currently running car but rather a formerly running car that will need in the very least probably a new fuel line, and attention to brakes. Please plan to have this car towed, transportation of vehicle is up to buyer but I am willing to help assist with the effort. Although this car is not currently running, I believe it wouldn't take much and is a great candidate for a restoration. Included with sale is a folder with many receipts showing work that has been done in the past. ENGINE: The engine started normally and ran exceptionally well. It has had a new front crank seal, new cooler seals, and new push rod tube seals. It is nearly oil leak free. Also it has a nice set of heat exchangers and Ansa muffler. TRANSMISSION: The transmission in this car has been changed to the more desirable side shift transmission. It shifts smoothly up and down without any grinding. Reverse works well without any issue. All of the shift bushings have been replaced. BRAKES: The brakes will need attention. Although they did work well several years ago, I would plan on replacing them as the car has been sitting for some time. INTERIOR: The interior of this car is in exceptional shape. It is brown in color, and has almost no rips or tears. The interior is a more modern type with both the driver and passenger seats being adjustable. The drivers seat has some play in it that will perhaps need attention. The door panels are not perfect but show well and have both the drivers side map box and the passenger arm rest. Speaker grills are in great shape. The ignition works but the key must be jiggled in order to turn properly. Carpet still looks like new, roof operates and latches properly. The car is equipped with a Blaupunkt Tampa SQR29 radio. The steering wheel is made by Dino. Gauges all light up and work well. TIRES & WHEELS: Car is equipped with rare wheels usually seen around SCCA circles, and are in fairly good shape. The tire are made by Nova, size 165R15 and still have plenty of tread on them. BODY: Although it is very evident that somebody in the past has gone to a great deal of effort to make repairs and paint the car red, it is in need of additional work and could benefit from some light bodywork and a fresh coat of paint. The car looks good from a distance but at closer view there are several scratches as well as some bubbling. The underside is solid in most areas but does have rust and soft areas along the longitudinals. The trunk opens and closes, but does not latch properly. Both doors open and shut nicely but the spacing is not perfect. The front and rear bumpers are from a 1974. The front bumper isn't bad but the rear has some dry rot occuring. Front pop-up lights operate as they should without issue. Turn signals may need to be looked at, brake lights work well. Battery area aka "hellhole'' is in good shape with solid battery shelf. VEHICLE CONDITION: The overall condition is fair. When the car was running it was a blast to drive and got a lot of attention. I think it is a great candidate for a major or mild restoration because there is so much good about this car that it should be used and not just sit on jackstands. If somebody would just give it a little love it could be up and running. TITLE: I have a valid Florida title in hand which will be transferred upon sale. Payment: Non-refundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 7 days of auction close. Payment in cash, certified check, or PayPal only. SHIPPING: Car is sold as is with no refunds, and no warranties written or implied. Shipping of car will be the responsibility of new owner and must take place immediately following close of auction.
