Super sweet, super clean Cougar in the best color combo! The 347 Stroker crate engine in this Cougar XR7 has a tastefully tuned cam with a rumpty-rump that sounds so awesome! This car came with a DVD of photos and a video of the engine build in this very car when it was done in 2011 (and only a few thousand miles ago). This locally owned car had lived in California until the mid-2000s and was traded in here by local car enthusiast. Absolutely NO RUST anywhere that we have found. Extremely solid, West Coast survivor. The classic black over red scheme of this car is original per the research done by the last owner using the data tag. The exterior has been repainted to a very high standard at some point in its life and the red interior is in very good condition showing minimal wear. This car has some cool features such as the sequential turn signals, functioning hideaway headlights, and a tilt steering wheel. The heater has been bypassed, we assume this was because of the warm climate in California but we have no idea. Offer accordingly. You HAVE to HEAR this thing! Update on 1/16/18...We have had a number of request for photos of the underbody. We have made a video that has been posted on the same well-known, popular video website mentioned above. Search "1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 European Motors". The underside is extremely clean and in solid condition. As you would expect, the previous owner would not drive this car even if there was a threat for rain nor on very hot days. This car was a summer toy in the midwest and it shows every bit of that kind of care. We have also posted more photos of the underbody on our website at www dot europeanmotorsiowa dot com. We have had a number of questions regarding the ac system as well. What we know is that all of the components are present, the car has been converted to 134 and the compressor does turn on. It is extremely cold here right now, even in our shop. The air coming out of the vents does blow cool to cold, but we are telling people it does not work. We did ask the previous owner if it worked and he said he never tried it as he did not drive it in extreme heat. If you get the car and the air conditioning works, you will be pleasantly surprised. The heater core has been looped, which I understand is common in warm climates. The car was never driven in the winter in the midwest and God help us, hopefully the next owner won't do this either. We hope this car continues to be driven by someone who will not drive it in the winter. If you HAVE to have a heater, please know that it has been looped and there is some work to do in that regard.
