Up for auction is a rare, and low mileage 1998 5.9L Grand Cherokee ready to tackle the winter!...these Jeep's are one of a kind, I have personally owned 3 of these Jeeps myself but never one with 98k miles. Recently my wife and I had our first child and decided the Jeep has to go since it is basically not being used....We loved NOTHING more than to take long trips in this Jeep as it is SO comfortable to drive in. The plush leather seats are the most comfortable of any car I've ever owned! From 1998 until 2006, this was the the Quickest SUV in the world and still is in the top 5 today I believe! It is hard to let this Jeep go because I know that I will never find one again with this kind of mileage. Last year I was tempted to sell it after seeing an identical mileage one sell for $16,000 and another with 120k miles sold for $10,900 - these Jeeps are going UP in value every year, not down. Most of the pics you see are of the Jeep outside my office and some pictures show the vehicle after being washed and some were taken before being washed. Same with the interior-a little bit of leather wipes and armor all and it will REALLY shine! If you are not up to speed on why these Jeeps stand out from all others-heres why. This is the ONLY year that Jeep made the 5.9L Grand..A quarter million Grand Cherokee's were made in 1998 and only 14,000 of them were the 5.9L Limited. I purchased the vehicle in 2014 from a family member when it had 75k on it. He owned it from 1998 until just a few years ago and kept it stored most of the time. Title is clean and noticed for some reason the CarFax reports as 4 owners however it is a 2 owner car (title name transfers I'm assuming). As you can see the underside is virtually rust-free beautiful condition-a testament to not seeing much of the elements. The Jeep was always maintained- Babied is an understatement. I used it to commute occasionally and was consistently getting 24 to 27MPG over a 40 mile stretch ! Very freakish for this type of SUV. The Jeep is COMPLETELY Stock as it came from the factory. The 5.9 Jeep Grand Cherokee included a number of improvements over the top of the line "limited" Grand Cherokee, that were unique to the 5.9. This included, in addition to the premium motor, all the options found on the limited edition, in addition to: Mechanical Differences: -The 245 HP 345 lb-ft 5.9L (360) engine, of course! -150amp high output alternator (others get only 138amp or 117amp) -Electric 2-speed engine cooling fan (saves ~20HP) -Extra Heavy Duty 46RE auto transmission -High strength front driveshaft -2.75" low restriction stainless exhaust w/3" chrome rolled oval tip Interior Differences: -10 speaker sound system with rear upper sound bar -180-watt stereo amplifier (vs. 120-watt max. in Limited) -Full 100% leather (not just leather trimmed) seats -Leather center console cover -Leather shifter handle -Leather parking brake handle -Leather transfer case handle -Leather door panels -Fold down rear seat center armrest (leather) -Wood trim around the shifter handle -All wood trim is birdseye maple Exterior Differences: -Unique 5-spoke Ultrastar 16" wheels -Pinstripe delete -Unique hood with functional cooling louvers -Unique chrome exterior badging -Unique low restriction wire mesh grille for more engine cooling -Unique moulded lower rocker panels -Special new design low profile roof rack (doesn't rattle!) The engine on these Jeeps are renowned for their power and reliability and it purrs beautifully. The transmissions shifts smooth as butter and the cooling system and water pump all work perfectly. The A/C blows cold and the heat blows hot! Rarely enough, ALL the electronics work including heated seats, memory seats, all lights. There has never been a check engine light and vehicle passed emissions last year smoothly. The brakes have tons of life left. The exterior shows itself in the pics as you can see its in great overall shape. The headliner and floor look brand new as if it were never used. No rips or tears in the leather. When I purchased the vehicle I did some preventative maintenance: -Intake Plenum gasket (was not bad but they usually do go bad around 100k so I replaced it at 75k) -Cap and rotor -New plugs and wires -Battery (Nov 2017) -Transfer Case 242 (anyone familiar with these Jeeps knows these need to be replaced about 100k.
