2017 Volkswagen Beetle SE - American Hot Rods 1960's Retro Custom work done by Duane Mayer's American Hot Rods Shop Only 93 original miles. We received the car from Morongo Casino, stopped by the Banning California DMV office to pay license fees, and the sales tax.Car was then driven straight home and garaged.The car was driven home on CA Hwy 60 from Morongo Casino, which has a twisty section between Beaumont and Moreno Valley (check it out on Google Maps,) and the car drove like it was on rails. Please examine the pictures, including the photo of the window sticker! Morongo Casino valued the car with its custom upgrades at $37,270 on their release of liability, (we paid the sales tax on that amount.) We are now listing the starting price for this car at over $13,000 below its original listed custom value, only a little more than it's original retail price.We take the initial depreciation hit on the car, and you get a great bargain! I cannot list the car as new, because the original owner, Morongo Casino, registered the car as a company car. The casino then signed the pink slip (the title) over to us.The car is currently registered and titled in our name. The car came to us with new California Plates and stickers for August 2017 through August 2018, they are still in their package.The Morongo Casino people put about 55 miles on the car, which included miles driven when American Hot Rods had it for their work on the car.It appears that Morongo Casino recently activated the Sirius XM radio trial period. When the car was driven home the XM radio was working, and it sounded great. I do not know when the trial subscription runs out. - Things which will go with the car:-The original window sticker for the car from Riverside Volkswagen -Special tools for the adjustable suspension, which American Hot Rods put on the car. -The original owners manual (still in sealed bag), all the supplied booklets, and paperwork which came with the car. -The new California License plates and plate stickers. Concerning the D2 performance suspensionSome additional information I received with a phone call to the U.S. D2 distributor: D-20-13 is the part number for the units on the car, they are 36 way adjustable (dampening), with the supplied special tools. The ride height adjustment is 1 1/2" to 3" below the stock height. This was my answer: Hello, That is a good question on keeping the car, we are considering that seriously if the car does not sell at a price my wife, and I, agree on. We really don't need another car, since I am retired, we already have a sedan, and a truck, for our transportation needs. To have more room at our house, (just before my wife won the VW), I recently sold a very low mileage, (17k) 1979 Lincoln, (stored at my house for over 20 years). The Lincoln ended up going to a American car collector in Poland! Now I had room at the house. We then went to an Oktoberfest event at Morongo Casino on October 8th and my wife's name was drawn first in the contest to win a car! It took the Casino about 10 days to get their paper work together, that is why you see the October 18th date on some of the pictures. For the tax year of 2017, the value of the Volkswagen will effect our Federal, and State taxes to a fair degree. Next year, between taxes, and auto insurance, for this "free car", it will cost us over $10,000, this is for us, a substantial expense. Given all of that which I mentioned above, your are correct, it is a neat car, and we may end up keeping it. Thank you for your question. This was my answer: Hello, I have received a number of offers on the car outside of the EBay system for around the price you mention. Currently we are attempting to get the best price possible for the car using the EBay auction system. As I have mentioned in the listing, I have sold other personal vehicles in the past on EBay, with pretty good results 90% of the time. I am old enough to recall selling personal vehicles though newspaper ads, the old Pennysaver, and other means, going back decades. I prefer EBay. If you want a 2017 or 2018 stock VW, there are a lot out there for sale. This car is one of five, (I believe, from information seen in the pictures, and talking to people at the casino). This car is one of several that Morongo Casino had American Hot Rod customize in different colors. I suspect that this car, in this color, is one of a kind. Any value this car has over a stock 2017 VW, is in the eye of a potential buyer. Morongo Casino paid American Hot somewhere around fourteen thousand dollars for the work on the car, this is based on the difference between the list price, and the California release of liability figure, which we paid the sales tax on. From what I can find out about the D2 suspension, the custom wheels, and the white wall tires, these items alone might account for a quarter, to a third of that extra cost.
