Engine is BAD!!!!! PLEASE READ!!!! This Vehicle will have to be towed!!! It cannot be driven because the engine must be replaced!!!! A few weeks ago I was driving along and everything was running great when it died. It would start again but die as soon as I put it in gear. I had the Jeep towed to a local Mechanic. Apparently the #4 cylinder had the spark plugs smashed. The mechanic straightened out the plugs and started the vehicle and the same thing happened again. Jasper engine was contacted and there is a known issue with this engine and the engine plus the intake manifold would need to be replaced. This was going to cost me more than I felt the vehicle was worth (Well over $5,000). It will start and run with the occasional ping and weird sound of fluids, but when it is put in gear with any power applied it will die. This vehicle will have to be towed and cannot be driven. HISTORY 1) I bought the Jeep when it had around 85,000 miles. 2) After around 50,000 miles the computer went bad, it still drove fine but wouldn't shift into 4LOW, Remote start didn't work right, and Engine light came on for bad catalytic converter. After replacing the computer with a rebuild computer everything ran like new for about 2 years until the new rebuilt computer went out of warranty, went bad, and vehicle wouldn't run at all. Instead of getting another computer I put the old one back in so the above problems are once again present. 3) Front driver side seat has rips in fake leather. 4) The rest of the interior has the wear and tear of 10 years, almost 200,000 miles and Three kids. 5) Dent in passenger side rear door. (I was pushing on the panel to try and break ice to enter the vehicle a couple years ago. 6) One of the backup sensors is bad. 7) New Front Struts and Alignment on 09/23/2015 8) New Alternator in the past 6 months. 9) New Battery around a year ago. 10) One of the tire sensors is bad. 11) The vehicle did awesome on icy roads and snow. 12) Since I owned the Jeep I've changed the fluids in Transmission, differentials, and transfer case twice each. I believe everything else is or was (except the engine) working great, but you could find other problems. Sometimes the shift points in the transmission would worry me, around 55 MPH it would seem to shift back and forth. Nothing severe but it would get on my nerves at times. 13) I put 4 new tires on the Jeep 12/15/2016 but the invoice didn't list the mileage so I don't know how many miles are on them. 14) I hope I'm not forgetting anything. Obviously this vehicle is used and you could find other problems. I'm not trying to get rich but I am trying to recover a little money out of this vehicle. The only two guarantees I'll give with this listing are you'll need to have the vehicle towed if purchased and I will absolutely NOT take any trades for this vehicle. AGAIN PLEASE READ CAREFULLY - THE ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED - EVEN THOUGH IT WILL START IT WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT DRIVE AND IT CANNOT BE DRIVEN IN ITS CURRENT STATE. I'M SELLING THIS VEHICLE AS IS WITH NO ILLUSIONS OF IT BEING DRIVE-ABLE WITHOUT A CONSIDERABLE INVESTMENT OF MONEY AND TIME BY THE PERSON WHO PURCHASES IT. THIS WOULD PROBABLY BE A GREAT VEHICLE FOR SALVAGE BUT COULD TURN INTO A MONEY PIT VERY FAST. I'M NOT GUARANTEEING ANYTHING WILL WORK SO BUYER BEWARE.
