Vehicle Detail
Very early and rare 1961 Honda Benly. For this model year only 981 frames where manufactured and only 1007 engines. This machine is the 495th made and was purchased from the original owner. It is completely original and runs and rides excellent. Everything works (the lights, horn, electric start) and this bike still has surprising performance for what it is. The transmission and clutch are tight and the tires are good. I just changed the oil. As far as the cosmetic condition, well I don't think Honda every intended for this machine to still be on the road 57 years later, and it wears a "well developed patina". As you can the see the original paint has now taken on a more orange hue and the chrome is pitted, however the exhaust has no rust holes whatsoever and the chrome is not that bad, some pitting no flaking. I just had the seat re-covered with. The body is not rusty at all however there are a few dings on the front fender, the gas tank is rust free. Leave it original or restore this "survivor" it's up to you, the bike will attract attention at the next meet either way. The sale includes the original complete tool kit, even has the official tire patch kit, and the rare tire pump. I have a current Washington title in my name and the DMV let me keep the original which is included along with some old registrations and warranty card. According to the original owner this machine was one of the first Honda's in the Seattle area. It really is an interesting motorcycle and was way ahead of it's time, the fact that it's still is roadworthy is a testament to how well Honda engineered and manufactured their machines. I can't imagine how many 1961's are left, and how many will start on the first kick or with the press of a button. The tool kit and the tire pump are worth $400 alone....
