Vehicle Detail
Very original 1985 Mercedes 380SL. The car operates very nicely. Starts right up even when it hasn’t been driven recently. Smooth idle and shifts. Steering is also good. No leaks. As stated, it is a very original car and the paintwork does show some blemishes and there are some small paint chips, areas where the clear coat is worn, one spot with the paint bubbling just behind the front right tire (pictured), and some small dings. I included photos of the worst of it. That said, the car is very presentable and gets positive comments every time we drive it. We purchased the car in May of 2011. It had 100,936 miles on the odometer, today it has 107,932 although the odometer quit working after we pressed the trip reset at the last fill up. Probably about 20 miles ago. Since we’ve owned the car, we’ve had some extensive work done: 29 Jun 2011, mileage 101,107, replaced driver’s side door check and right front wheel speed sensor 24 Sep 2011, mileage 101,366, 5 new tires 26 Sep 2011, mileage 101,389, driver door handle repaired 19 Dec 2011, mileage 101,694, replaced front brake pads, rotors, calipers, and hoses 31 July 2012, mileage 102,654, repaired transmission leak 17 Jun 2013, mileage 103,140, cooling system flush, AC recharge, transmission service, replaced both rear sway bar, replaced idle speed control unit 10 Nov 2014, mileage 105,220, replaced engine and transmission mounts, replaced transmission cable, replaced ignition module 28 Aug 2017, mileage 107,932, new muffler, rear brake pads and rotors replaced All receipts are available to the purchaser. Also during our ownership, we found and installed a Becker Grand Prix 612 radio that would have been period correct. Currently, the clock, cruise control, and odometer are inoperable. Original manuals and 2 original keys and the valet key. As you can see in the photos, the car has a blue soft top and blue hard top.
