Vehicle Detail
2005 BMW 530i. This has been my personal vehicle for the 18 months, and has served me as my daily driver. It has been a great car, and I am sad to see it go! I had bought this as a fixer upper and had planned to fix minor things over time. I should add that the car runs fine, and my fixes were to make it perfect. Unfortunately life has become busier for me, and I don't have the time or energy to spend the energy that I had planned to make this car perfect. Since I was fixing this for my own use, I have spent about $5000 on new parts and repairs, as my intention was to keep this car for the next many years. I am listing some of the recent parts installed and repairs completed which is well makes the total investment in the car (cost + parts) well over $7000 in total costs. You can call me at 832-559-0251 for more questions or to schedule a visit to inspect the car. I have many new parts installed, and recently got the following repairs done: 1. New AC compressor, dryer and refrigerant 2. New engine belts 3. New engine cooling fan (radiator fan) 4. New gear shift module (new BMW part) 5. New battery (1 year back) 6. New relays 7. New SMG transmission oil pressure pump 8. Replaced SMG transmission computer (and reprogrammed it) 9. Replaced SMG transmission valves 10. Replaced rear tail signals with OEM sport version 11. Tires are about 2 years old and have great tread! Now for the not so good news: The car runs fine for the most part, but in the past it would give me intermittent issues when driving in stop and go traffic for over an hour. This seemed to be linked to something overheating or a faulty heat sensor. What would happen is that once the engine/car would get hot (usually on hot days after being in slow traffic for an hour), the transmission would become trippy. This means that the car would go into Neutral and not move. I would need to let it sit and cool down for an hour and then it would run fine. I've had this checked and rechecked and many parts replaced to potentially fix this issue - this is a known BMW SMG transmission design issue where the computer starts to get an incorrect reading of the car becoming too hot, and the transmission goes into sleep/neutral. I had the oil pressure pump changed, replaced and reprogrammed SMG computer, replaced the valve lines, and also changed out the transmission gear stick shifter (new BMW OEM parts). I also had a new engine cooling fan installed, as well as a new AC compressor. Lots of new parts, some of them not even listed above. This seems to be a relay or sensor issue, but I don't have the time nor the patience to troubleshoot it, and am selling the car AS-IS. I travel for work regularly, and thus don't have the time to fix this issue, which seems like a small one but will need some troubleshooting time. I have not had the issue lately, but I am sharing it as a possibility that you should be aware of. I selling the car AS-IS with full disclosure of what all I have gotten fixed on the car. This car is being sold with No Reserve.I should add that this car has a reconstructed title - I don't know the car's prior owner history, as had bought it with knowledge of it being a reconstructed title. I think the prior work on it was due to a collision as the car has some repaint. However the body of the car is good and I did not see any frame damage. The windscreen was replaced, and there are some interior trim parts that show signs of glass damage. The car still looks really nice as evident in the photos attached. You are also welcome to come see the car in person, however I will only allow road driving in the immediate neighborhood due to expired tags. You will need to set up an appointment to view the car. You can call or email me 832-559-0251 for any other questions! On Oct-18-17 at 09:18:31 PDT, seller added the following information: The car is listed for sale locally, and I may end the auction sooner if someone purchases it locally before end of auction. Lastly, I cant seem to update the listing, but the car is only for local pickup - I will not ship nor entertain any shipping. You will need to pick the car up in person and complete the sale transaction in person also.
