Vehicle Detail
2001 Subaru Outback, rust hole in sub frame. Running GREAT Motor and transmission solid if you need parts. Car runs great just rust is catching up to this one. There is about a half a tank of gas in the car. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Pictures speak 10,000 words and are part of the item description. There is a hole about the size of a half dollar in the sub frame and it will not pass inspection here in Pa. I had a welder lined up to weld a plate over the hole and the gentleman at the inspection station said that will pass as long as it is solid but it has been 6 weeks and the welder keeps putting me off so as sad as that is I am going to part with this Subaru. A little over a year ago our oldest boy used this car to pick up a manual transmission for one of my other Subaru's and it tipped over in the rear area. I can smell gear oil in the car. We cleaned it but I can still smell it. I guess I should have replaced the removable cover and replaced it. The cover that goes over the spare tire is where the gear oil spilled onto. By the way there is a good spare tire. The engine is ROCK solid. AC works great. Everything works. There is some body rust but the part that keeps this from getting a current inspection sticker is the hole in the subframe and I can’t weld. I have maintenance records from us and some from the previous owner. At 227730 miles even though there was nothing wrong with the car we went ahead and had a Subaru shop do the following per their recommendations since we did not know if the prior owner had this work done. Head gaskets, intake gaskets water pump, thermostat and gaskets, idler pulleys, tensioner, cam seals, crank seal, rear crank seal, antifreeze, spring bold and exhaust gasket, water pump hose, timing belt and fan belts, oil, spark plugs, hoses and clamps, engine oil pan because the prior owner took it somewhere and they stripped out the drain plug, converter flange gasket for a total cost of $2,024.60. We have done the above on every Subaru we purchased and currently all 3 are still running strong with approximately 250,000 miles on each of them. Rust is killing me. These cars are just broke in at 250,000 and every 100,000 they go in for timing belt, water pump, pulleys, etc. I change oil every 3000 miles or sooner and use full synthetic 10w30 motor oil and a new oil filter every oil change. Sold as is. Winning bidder is responsible for title transfer and shipping. Have a GREAT day! Mike On Oct-07-17 at 12:11:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Original owners manual is included. One remote control door lock and unlock included. Four keys. My wife reminded me that when we purchased the car it came with a spare rim with a full size tire mounted on it so I put that in the back of the car.
