Vehicle Detail
This is a 1979 Mazda RX-7, 5-speed manual with a Twin-Rotor Wankel Rotary Engine in Sonic Bronze Metallic. I have just recently purchased this car from the original owner. 119K miles on the odo. The gentleman purchased the car new in 1979 from Bour Mazda (now Kelly Mazda) in Scranton PA and has kept it garaged and never driven in the winter and rarely in the rain. The car has been regularly serviced at the original dealership where it was purchased since new. In the glovebox are the original manuals, recipes, window sticker and even the original little can of touchup paint that came with the car. The roof case which is kept in the cargo area still contains the original sunroof deflector which has never been used and still in new condition. Spare tire, jack etc. are also still in new condition.Though technically I am now the second owner, I have only driven the car home and taken it to a car show. All original receipts from the original owner will be included and car will not show a carfax because it was made before 1980. I recently brought the car to the Hemmings Concours d'Elegance cruise-in in Lake George, NY to show where it received a very good response and lots of attention from attendees, including Wayne Carini from Chasing Classic Cars who I met while walking around there said it was "a cool looking car". All the kids liked this car at an old man car show :-) Condition: The car is in very good used condition and shows very well. The paint is very shiny as can be seen in the pics. The interior is very good with some fade but no rips or cracks. The rear cargo carpet is stained under the sunroof bag. It has a/c but is not working of course. There has been some body work done and it was repainted by the dealer. The tires are newer and the brakes are good. Tranny shifts smooth and alignment is straight. Clutch works perfect and shifts very easy. Wipers, washers fluid jets, signals all work properly. The exhaust could very likely be original. There are a couple drips underneath when the car gets warm but am told this is common and most likely an oil pan gasket. The power antenna was broken off when I picked it up but I have replaced it. It is in place but not wired yet. Otherwise the car is fine and ready to drive as is. It is not perfect and should be considered a 38 year old car with newer paint. Certainly better than most 79's. These are very reliable cars with not much that can go wrong. It could be a very easy light restore or just drive it like it is. Just passed PA inspection and has a recent Mazda Dealer service sticker in the window. I have bought and sold many cars on ebay and my feed back is perfect. It also has a PA temporary tag which is good until late October so I'll let you have that as well to get it home. Classic car insurance through American Collectors is just $130 a year for this car. I am still waiting on the title which should be here in a few weeks. If you want to wait to make final payment and/or pickup until I get the title that is fine, I will keep it stored for you. I have 100% positive feedback and have bought and sold many cars on ebay so rest easy. If you would like to make the whole final payment via paypal with a credit card I am fine with that. If you would like to come see it before the auction ends you are welcome to.On Sep-25-17 at 16:51:55 PDT, seller added the following information: I'll answer some questions I've been getting more consistently: - No, I am not a dealer. Buying too many cars is just my hobby. I bought 2 cars this month and something has to go. - The title is clear but still processing. It's not unusual to sell a car without the title in hand, dealers do it all the time. As soon as I get it I'll sign it over.On Sep-27-17 at 15:32:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Here are more pictures. One thing I did not notice until now because I have not driven the car in the dark is the gage cluster does not light up. After some RX-7 forum research I have found this is a faulty cluster dimmer switch and is a common problem. Replacements can be found here on ebay, or you can bypass the switch and keep the cluster lights on the brightest setting all the time. Photo gallery click to enlarge
