2003 BMW 530i Often regarded as one of the best looking 5-series BMW, the E39 was a leap forward over its E34 predecessor. Torsional rigidity was increased by 40% improving handling and ride quality. Aerodynamics also improved in the new design of the E39 resulting in an impressive drag coefficient of 0.28. Power comes from the M54 straight-six cylinder engine offering up 230bhp and 220lbft of torque. As a straight-six the torque was more useable than the V8. In real terms, in normal driving, the ‘6’ feels more powerful than the V8. The car on offer here is a well-maintained example, owned by me personally for the last 5-years. Mechanically excellent, the car drives great. It starts easily, idles well, and has good, responsive power, shifting through the gears of the ZF 5-speed automatic transmission perfectly. The steering is taut, as is the suspension. Brakes work perfectly, and all electrical systems work as they should, including cold AC, great stereo system with CD changer in the trunk and fully operational windows and sunroof. It has always been a pleasure to drive and remains so. The car was recently serviced and new windshield rubber installed, a new fuel pump and fresh tires. All coils have been replaced. There are a few scuffs and dings around the body and interior. Please look at the photos carefully. Nothing too bad for a 15-year-old car with 150,000 miles on the clock, but I wanted to leave it original and unmolested. The car comes with a clean, clear California title.
