Vehicle Detail
1984 Land Rover Santana 88, Series IIIA VSELBABG2AZ101414 NOTE: THIS VEHICLE IS LOCATED IN DENIA, SPAIN, but I ship to the USA. Please check my feedback, and please read the entire listing before bidding. I am an American, living in Spain, and I sell and export vehicles to the USA regularly. Although shipping costs are not included in the price of the sale, I work every month with an established worldwide shipper and will work directly with the buyer to arrange delivery to the USA. I will drop the vehicle off at the port of Valencia for you at no additional cost, prepare all the proper documentation for shipping to the USA, and handle all the US customs and importation on the USA side. If you would like me to handle the shipping, customs paperwork, and everything for you, the cost is a flat-rate of $1900, port-to-port, to your choice of New York, Baltimore, MD, Jacksonville, FL or Freeport (Galveston), TX. No additional costs. No work on your part. You just pick the car up from the port, fully cleared and released. Once the vehicle is in your possession, you will also have all the documents you need to register the car in any of 49 states. (California excepted.) I can even arrange transportation within the USA, from the port to your driveway. In short, I am here to help with every step of the process of delivering this vehicle to you. You are of course welcome to fly here and test the car for yourself before you bid, but if that is not feasible, I will be happy to take additional photos, videos, etc. and send them to you. Whatever you need. We can speak on the telephone, or by Skype, so you can see the vehicle in real time before you bid. If you have any questions, please ask and I will post as many answers here as possible. For more details, see https://www.autologymotors.com/landrovers3awhite WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE? The first of the Defender-nosed Santanas, this late Series III model is a unique opportunity for someone looking to craft a Land Rover into the exact vehicle they want. Straight and rust free, with no signs of damage and no mechanical needs, it is a lovely driver and needs nothing to be driven daily. Bodywork is straight and rust free, with a color change to matte white with matte black interior and black exterior trim. There are no serious dents or deformation to the aluminum skin, and the undercarriage is entirely rust free. No rust in the frame rails, crossmembers, floors or bulkheads. The interior has brand new three-abreast front seats with new foams and upholstery. The four individual folding rear jump seats are original and in excellent condition. Interior metal has been sprayed in a combination of matte and gloss black with varying levels of professionalism. It is straight, clean and everything functions as it should. This 88 is not for a collector. It is for an enthusiast. Someone who wants to drive it as it sits and not worry about the cosmetic details, or someone who wants to build it out into the rig of their dreams. It could easily be built into a clone or tribute of a late model Defender, or modified into a wild (and wildly capable) adventure vehicle. Either way, the starting point is a rust-free and mechanically solid car, with Defender-style nose and factory overdrive. A rare and wonderful combination and not often available at this price point. WHAT'S IT LIKE TO DRIVE? Honest and original, the mechanicals of this Series III are perfectly in keeping with the age and mileage. With outstanding compression, the engine fires easily, even when cold, with almost no warming of the glow plugs necessary. The trusty and torquey 2.25L Rover diesel offers excellent tractability and the gearbox is crisp and positive. Clutch and brakes work as intended, and all gauges and lights function correctly. Overdrive makes any Series Land Rover more useable in a modern context and it's no different here. Engaging "Superdirecte" at cruising speed drops the revs significantly, allowing highway capable travel and extending the effective "adventure radius" of what is without question the most recognizable and legendary off-road vehicle ever made. Oversized off-road tires are brand new and fitted to modern tubeless wheels for increased peace of mind. If you are looking for a Series truck to show and enter in concours events, this is likely not your Land Rover. But if you want a Defender-styled Series III with factory overdrive and diesel power, either for inexpensive daily use or as a base for the build of your dreams, this 88 would be an ideal choice.
