Vehicle Detail

1979 Plymouth Road Runner 1 owner car – I bought this car new in July, 1979 and drove it home from the dealership. REVISION from my earlier post: The car was originally titled in my father's name and then in 1987 transferred to me. I have the documentation that shows the transfer. I had forgotten this detail and only realized how it was handled when I went back through the paperwork. But please understand. This happened 30 years ago. Description: I originally ordered this car with a 360 4barrel high performance engine which was only available the last half of 1979. It came with true dual exhaust including dual catalytic converters and the larger torque flite 727non-lockup transmission. It was also ordered with heavy duty suspension. I have the original window sticker. I was 19 years old. In 1984 I had planned to build the original 360 but came across a 1972 340 long block for sale that was built by a machine shop in Butler, Pennsylvania and sitting on an engine stand (still have the snapshots of it). Here the specs I was provided for the motor (which I had in some old notes I am holding): · Steel Crank· Shot peened rods· Cylinders bored .40 over· Zyglo inspected· 10.5:1 piston· Triple angle valve job· Triple valve springs· High Volume Oil Pump· Windage tray· Double Roller Timing belt· Adjustable pushrods· Holley Strip Dominator manifold A mechanic and good friend of mine, then installed the following in the motor and to the car: · “Hemi” profile cam· Direct Connection Lifters· Holley 650 cfm double pumper carb· Blackjack Aluma coat headers· B&M Shift Kit (Stage 2)· B&M 3500 RPM Super Hole Shot Converter· Dana 60 Rear Axle with 4:10 gears· Dual 2 ½” exhaust with turbo mufflers· New Rear Heavy Duty Springs (stiffer than original)· Gas shocks· 4 row custom radiator we had built· Adjustable Pinion Snubber· Rear Sway Bar· 265/50R-15 tires on 15X8 rims· Battery in trunk· High Capacity Transmission cooler· Deep Oil Pan· Deep Chrome Transmission Pan w/ drain plug· Tachometer· Oil Pressure Gauge· Power Antenna· Front Air dam, rear spoiler, louvers, and wheel flares are all original Mopar parts as installed on the 1977 model· Chrome box electronic ignition w/ quick advance curve· High capacity fuel pump· High Perf coil and wires· Removed the A/C components Additional item not in pictures: · I have bucket seats from a 1979 Road Runner I had reupholstered in the original cloth and vinyl material as the backseat in this car. They have never been installed in the car – I just never got around to it. But also they are on a top shelf in my storage unit. They come with the car but I have to move some things to get to them. A little more information: · This is a beautifully running car that is revs freely without complaint · I have never broken down in the car since the build was complete in 1986 · I have put approximately 14,000 miles on the car since 1986 when we finished putting everything together. · Since 1986, the car has received regular maintenance including fluid changes. A few years back we replaced the coil, plugs, wires, front calipers, and brakes · I rebuilt the carburetor once but that was many years ago. · Originally, I had SST mags on the car but last year I switched to different wheels that allow the brakes to get better ventilation than the with the closed SST mags. · The tires were installed on the new wheels last year and have less than 300 miles on them · The exhaust system was replaced last year · The car runs very well on Premium 93 octane pump gas. However, last fall I tried putting 90 grade ethanol free fuel in it because I knew I wouldn’t be driving it much in the winter and it wasn’t happy. · I always put fuel stabilizer in the tank when I fill it with gas · The car has been garaged it’s entire life until just last week. · I am sure I missing things, but that is all I can think of for now. Why I am selling this car: I drive this car very little and for many years I either kept it in my garage or I rented garage space for it. I thought my kids might want it but they don’t. Last week, I bought a new car and want to keep it in my garage. If it sits outside for any length of time it will deteriorate so I don’t want to do that. I drive it very little (perhaps a few miles every other week) but if I put it in storage I will drive it even less as I have many other things taking up my time these days. I think at this point it is better going to someone who will install the bucket seats, drive it, and enjoy it. The title will be signed over to the buyer and a Bill of Sale will also be provided. Car must be picked up within 2 weeks of sale or arrangements made to put the car in storage at the buyer's expense. On Sep-04-17 at 08:19:36 PDT, seller added the following information: There is an error in the listing and because bidding has started, I cannot revise the description. I cannot find the original window sticker. The only thing I can think of is that my father kept it with his files. Unfortunately, he passed away 9 years ago. I can tell you the car came with the following options:3 speed torqueflite automatic, custom interior package, light package, deluxe insulation package, air conditioning (was removed in the 80's), bumper guards, rear window defroster, tinted glass, inside hood release, dual chrome sport style mirrors, power front disc brakes, power steering, heavy duty suspension, conventional spare tire On Sep-04-17 at 17:54:34 PDT, seller added the following information: One more thing... The car does have front and rear sway bars. It goes around corners very flat. My favorite part of the car... The wheels and tires. They fill the wheel wells but never ever rub any part of the body. They are tucked in as if making a statement. As I think everyone can understand who reads this post, I recognize it's time to let her go but it's a tough decision all the same. She's been with me a long time. I don't thing I will ever own a car again that get the looks and comments I get when I drive her. When I pull into a grocery store or gas station people gather around and want to have a peek under the hood. What is surprising it that many times it is the younger generation who weren't even alive with this car was manufactured who are so interested in it. Ugh! On Sep-05-17 at 09:12:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Just a few more items... I kept a cover on the car while it was in the garage. The buyer will get the car cover (it's a quality breethable cover). I have the rails and trim pieces for the bucket seats. You will get those as well. There is a box of miscellaneous parts (some additional clamps, some odds and ends, etc.) that will also be included. I have a suspicion the buyer will be quite happy with their purchase. As stated, tis car gets a lot of attention.
