Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a well maintained 1992 500e finished in Black Pearl (DB 199) with a black interior. It has an updated front end to resemble a 94/95. The heavy items needing remedying have been addressed including timing chain, transmission rebuild and AC blower motor. This was my daily driver when I purchased it, but has only seen limited use in the last few months, prompting the sale. MECHANICAL: The 5.0L V8 is in great shape. It pulls strong. NO leaks or hesitation. It drives and steers smoothly down the highway. Feels like it can pass up anything between 30 and 60 MPH. I have a 2 inch binder of things done and service manuals. Service highlights are as follows - @115k mi - $8439 - Transmission rebuild with OEM seals, gaskets, Brake bands, Band pistons, clutch disc. - Replace timing chain and tensioner with upper guide rails and slide rail. - Replace Valve cover gasket - Replace Water pump, coolant reservoir and Drive Belt - Replace Oil pan gasket - Oil level sender - Rebuild power steering pump and Steering gear rebuild - OEM muffler/exhaust system @120k mi - extensive suspension rebuild. Shocks and springs in great shape. - I have an updated 500e specific wiring harness that will be included, the existing one looks fine so I didn't replace it. Work recently performed is as below - - New spark plugs, wires, cap and rotors. - Leak in the AC system tracked down. A/C serviced with a new blower motor and various lines. It blows cold. Pricey fix! - AC belt - Front and rear brake service. - New R/L tie rod ends and bushings - 4 wheel alignment. - Recent oil and filter change. - Recently, on occasion, I have noticed that when the AC is on, the auxiliary fans take a while to kick in. It doesn't always happen and I have seen them on, so I know they work and receive power. I have ordered a new relay that should remedy that. The wires to the fans were checked and cleaned and they are getting power. EXTERIOR: Black Pearl is in very good shape. The front end has been updated to resemble a 94 e500, and at the time, the car was repainted to address scratches and dings. The lower panels were paint matched too. No accidents or floods. No rust issues. - Recently treated to a 3 stage paint correction and looks great. - Factory fender flares give it a mean stance. - Updated taillights and front turn signals from a 94 e500. - 15" 8 hole wheels with tires that have over 80% tread. - Front windshield was replaced and is in great shape without any cracks. - Has a dent on the passenger rear fender that was partially massaged out, but will need addressing to make it perfect (pictured). Few scratches noted. - The windshield sprayers were not attached when the hood update was done. INTERIOR: Black Sport leather seats in very good shape. No rips or tears in the leather. - The cluster needles are nice bright orange and not faded. - Burl wood accents in good shape, except for the center console. - Recent Headliner - Seats in very good shape with no tears. Some wear at the driver's bolster noted. Rear bucket seats are also in good shape. - No dash cracks. - Rear sunshade works. - Radio works fine. Speakers are fine, but not audiophile quality. The power antenna does not work. - All power features work, except left rear window. - Cruise control does not work. - The trunk lock cylinder locks and unlocks all doors. The driver's side (same key) only locks and unlocks the driver's door. - There are several lights that stay on in the dash including the ASR, ABS and the headlamp indicator. Does not affect drivability. The last one came on after the updated headlights were installed by the previous owner. Headlights work fine. - The B pillar is starting to show some signs of ungluing, and the driver's door pocket panel is also showing its age. - The steering wheel upper surface is showing wear. I was quoted $200 to redo the wheel with new steering wheel leather. In summary, you are buying a well maintained car that is a great entry level into the 500e muscle car arena. Being 25 years old, it is not perfect and should not be construed as such. There is some wear and tear that is age appropriate. Be realistic in your expectations and you will not be disappointed. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I can assist with shipping, but buyer is responsible for shipping fees. ThanksOn Aug-10-17 at 19:57:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi folks, I was going through the service records, which date back to 1994 and 15000 miles and the receipts are between $25 and $30k. A few more service examples - At 96k miles, the pricey Rear Hydropneumatic shocks were replaced with OEM units. Rear springs were also replaced. Various other suspension items including front struts were replaced. Fluids were flushed as well as brakes serviced. This totaled $3800 The front end update was done in 2003 at a cost of over $4000 which also included color coding the lower cladding and bumpers. I have 3 keys, books and extensive service records. Thanks for the interest and bids. Contact me with any questions.
