Vehicle Detail

I am selling my very clean 1999 Lexus LS400. I bought the car from the original owners about 10 years ago with around 100k miles on the car. It is an all-Florida car, originally purchased from Lexus of Sarasota. I've used this car for the last 10 years as a daily driver, with many of those years spent as an undergraduate and then a graduate student at the University of Florida, commuting back and forth to Tampa most weekends to see my long distance girlfriend. The car now has 215k miles and she still runs flawlessly. The engine runs like new (super quiet, free of vibrations, and very powerful) and the transmission shifts perfectly. It has ice cold air conditioning and brand new ~ $800 factory Michelin tires. She easily has another 100k miles of good life left in her.So here's your chance to own one of the best luxury cars ever made by one of the best automobile manufacturers in the world (Lexus / Toyota). This car is full of options and originally sold for almost $60,000. LS400s routinely go over 300,000 miles. She has been very well maintained and has full Lexus / Toyota dealership service history going all the way back to when it was purchased new. The oil has been changed every 3,000 miles and all recommended maintenance has been performed. I had a brand new alternator installed at the local Toyota dealership a few years ago.It had a clean Carfax when I originally bought it back about 10 years ago. Here's every little problem with the car that I can think of: The keyless entry stopped working recently when I had to have a new key made. The keyless entry worked fine for the last 10 years so it's probably something simple to fix? All of the power locks, the factory security system, etc all work fine. The windshield wipers occasionally only work in FAST mode. She has the scrambled radio display that a lot of these LS400s have. The clock and outside temperature display work perfectly, however. I had one minor, low-speed fender bender in town a few years ago and the car was repaired under my insurance at a certified body shop. The front left quarter panel and front bumper were replaced. I believe a headlight might have been replaced as well. The paint on the hood is ruined from tree sap. It's really bad. You'll want to spend about $300 to get the hood painted. The tilt steering still works perfectly but the telescopic motor burned out a few years ago. Fortunately, it seems to be stuck in a good, neutral position. The car features factory "tilt-away" steering; so that when you turn the car on, the steering wheel comes to you; and when you turn the car off, the steering wheel retracts. Because of the burned out telescopic motor, you now have to hold the driver's memory settings button to get the steering wheel to return to where it was. Does that make sense? It's a minor annoyance and probably fairly cheap to replace that little motor. Also the little plastic area where the driver preference buttons is a little loose. Some idiot threw a brick through the front passenger window and stole a radar detector from my dashboard about 7 or 8 years ago. I had the window replaced at the local Lexus body shop, using all Lexus parts (including having the glass ordered from several states away). They did a good job because the window has no problem whatsoever rolling up and down. However, they must have messed something up with the sensor that rolls down the window if the window encounters an obstacle while rolling up. Because of this, about 2/3 of the time when you use the auto-up feature for the passenger window, it gets most of the way up and then comes back down. What I wouldn't do to have caught the thief that did this to my car... I think one of the headlight wires came loose at some point because the Daytime Running Lights no longer turn on and only one of the headlights works as a high beam. I am 99% certain that there is nothing wrong with the headlight. I replaced it myself with a good part from eBay after a bird flew into the original headlight and shattered it. I think I might have done a poor job of connecting one of the wires. Anyway, the normal HID headlights for this car work flawlessly and provide tons of light. I personally kind of like not having Daytime Running Lights, but that might just be me... The tint on the right rear window is peeling and needs to be retinted -- about $50. The tint on one of the front windows is just starting to peel so that you can hear it ever so slightly whenever you roll the window up and down. She comes with all of the original Lexus floor mats and trunk mat. The trunk mat is in excellent condition -- like new. The rear floormats are in very good condition. The front floor mats could use a really good, deep cleaning but are otherwise in very solid condition. No known mechanical problems. She truly drives like a dream.
