Vehicle Detail
All, first thanks for all the looks and the questions. The questions have been really helpful. I'm updating the description to reflect some of the comments I've gotten from experienced car guys, as well as provide some additional detail. Tomorrow i'll be posting additional pictures--of the undercarriage, the trunk, the wells in the trunk over the rear wheels, the rear lighting assembly at the back of the trunk, and the stamps and serial numbers i've located on the engine and the driver side door post. But i wanted to get the added detail on line tonight. FIRST, there is some rust on the frame beneath the driver side door and the passenger side door, and some rust where the floor boards beneath the driver and passenger seats joins the undercarriage. There is not a great deal of rust, but it is present. I apologize for not thinking to climb under the car in the first instance. Second, one of the comments i got was from a guy who has been restoring mustangs for 45 years. He thinks there could be some bondo on the front quarter panels which has been sprayed over with lacquer, and that's why the pictures of the sides of the car have so much glare. I'm not enough of a body guy to know. But i'll take some close ups of the front quarters and post them tomorrow too. I'm selling my 1966 Ford Mustang, and I've posted 17 pictures of it above. I'm the 3rd owner and I've owned the car since 2005. The car is all original--exterior and interior. She's been well maintained and runs like a top. Over the last 5-8 years my mechanic has replaced the brakes, wheel cylinders and the brake linings, the clutch, and the exhaust system, as well as generally maintained the engine. The paint job is the original. The car has only 50,707 miles on it, and it had only 48,687 when i bought it. Straight six, 200 cu inch, single barrel carb, 3 speed on the floor. The trunk is dry and does not leak. The windows don't leak and the window cranks work fine. The interior is in great shape. No tears in the front buckets or the back bench. Seat belts firmly attached and working. Horn and turn signals work well. The a.m. radio does work, but very badly (it can pick up the nearby a.m. radio station but it's very scratchy). The paint has begun to "alligator" on the back quarter panels, particularly on the top of the quarter panels next to the trunk, and the back left quarter panel. You can see this clearly in the 7th, 8th, and 15th pictures above. There are 3 small rust spots on the inside of the passenger side door near the door bottom, and a rust spot on the outside of the passenger side door near the door edge. You can see these in the 11th, 12th, and 13th pictures above. You can see the original paint job has faded a good deal over time. When the car was produced the color was a deep ocean green. The car IS NOT currently inspected. I'm happy to answer any questions. Bill
