Vehicle Detail
Thank you for looking... Most of you are likely familiar with the K1200RS. It is a great performing bike, and this one is no different. Mechanically the bike is in great shape, and runs and rides AWESOME! There are a couple of minor mechanical imperfections, which do not impact the riding experience for me in any way. The heated grip on the right hand side is not working due to a broken wire. The heating element on the grip is fine, just need to repair the wire, and I have not had enough time to do that. I live in NY and frequently ride the bike in cold weather. Frankly, I can never keep my hands warm just using the heated grips. A warm pair of gloves seems to be a much better alternative, thus I have no real reason to repair the broken heated grip wire. Also, there are two exhaust studs missing. I guess these broke over the lifetime of the bike. One was broken when I bought the bike from Max BMW in 2008, and the other must have broken since then. The bike has almost 57,000 (95% highway miles) miles, and there are no issues with having the studs missing. I have had no plans to repair these, as there is no real reason to do so on the bike of this vintage. In fact, I just got back from a cross-country trip, and the bike ran like new. I am the second owner, and the bike has always been garaged and kept out of the weather, except when riding it, of course. There are some scratches on the plastic as indicated in the pictures. Most of these were there when I purchased the bike from Max BMW. The bike has been meticulously maintained by Max BMW and myself, with regularly scheduled oil/air/fuel filter changes. I have been running 100% synthetic oil in the bike after 12K miles. I have put about 45K miles on this bike over the past 9 years of ownership. The brake pads on front/rear have been replaced since my return from my last cross-country trip about 2 months ago. BMW Motorcycles of Ventura had replaced the front/rear Metzler z8 tires during my cross-country ride, so the new tires have about 4,000 miles on them. About two years ago Max BMW, here in NY, replaced the rear engine seal, as it is common for the seal to leak after 10-12 years on these bikes. I have also replaced the mirrors with a different set of BMW mirrors for better visibility, but I have the original "mickey mouse" mirrors, and will include them. I also have the original BMW user manuals, and a CD ROM service manual. All will be included with the bike. This bike is completely stock, and has no aftermarket modifications. The bike is located in the 10989 zip code and is for sale locally, so I may end up ending the auction early. I will assist the buyer with shipping, but the shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and the packing/shipping related costs are NOT included. Also, there is no warranty of any kind for this bike. I have a clear NY title. Thanks again, and feel free to ask any additional questions.
