Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 2008 Mini Cooper S (made by BMW) - This is the Turbo Charged version with manual transmission (six speed). When I picked up this car it was from an retired person down in Naples, the car was actually well taken care of just paint showed some signs of wear from being parked outside in FL all its life. We did clay, polishing and waxing to bring out the read but there are some spots on hood and door where clear coat is peeling. It does not have any mechanical issues, at 78K miles the timing chain and related parts were all done. Since I have owned it a number if improvements and replaced parts have been done which you can read below: Engine/Drive-train: 1) This generation mini suffers from a bad oil/coolant leak from turbo feed line and also oil filter housing. We replaced the lines with upgraded Detroit Speed kit which uses much better parts that will not fail again. Also replaced the housing with new unit and gaskets so the car has no leaks of oil or coolant. 2) The auxiliary water pump was replaced with a new unit that has better design and not prone to failure. 3) The timing chain tensioner was replaced with upgraded BMW unit that eliminates the chain from coming loose. 4) Car has had all of its fluids changed with Synthetic fluids and confirmed nothing is leaking. Coolant system was also flushed and BMW coolant used to replace. 5) New PCV lines where installed as these are known to become brittle and break. 6) The car did have an exhaust leak so we replaced all the gaskets on down pipe and mid section, this fixed the exhaust leak. 7) Both front wheel bearings have been replaced. Exterior: 1) Hood scoop was replaced with Carbon Fiber JCW (OEM) scoop. 2) Headlights are HID Projectors with correct 6000K bulbs (bright white) 3) Wheels & Tires were just recently installed. They are larger than stock and come off a 2012 Mini Cooper S (there is a TPMS error now, as the car is using the 2012 pressure monitors and these do not work with a 2008 - Tire shop quoted $300 to install the correct TPMS). 4) BMW Dealer recently tinted the windows (lifetime warranty) 5) New hatch hydraulics and rear brake light was installed. 6) The car does have convenience package option - This means you can leave the key in your pocket and unlock/lock doors by pressing button on door handle. You can also start the car with key left in your pocket, in my opinion this is a needed option for any Mini Cooper S! 7) Carbon Fiber look front tow hook. INTERIOR: 1) The door panels has some scratches and damage to trim so new door panels were ordered with piano black trim and installed (this just made the interior look better). Also the exit lighting under doors was upgraded to LED bulbs for brighter light. 2) BMW re-programmed the window module so both windows go up and down without any issue (there is a known issue where sometimes it would go up and then back down 1/2 way). 3) This car does have the optional lighting package which allows you to change the ambient lighting inside the cabin to a series of various colors and brightness. 4) Dashboard trim was upgraded to custom Carbon Fiber pieces - These were all hand made by a shop in CA and fit like OEM parts. 5) The stereo has been upgraded with the channel reverse harness. This custom harness made by a company in the UK that changes the lows to the back speakers and the highs to the smaller front speakers. It makes the stock (non H&K) radio sound a lot better. 6) I am including the BMW/Mini iPod/iPhone music interface adapter and upgraded power module. With this you can USB connect your phone to radio for streaming music and also charge phone (I have an iPhone 7+ and it works perfectly). 7) eBrake handle has been upgraded to the John Cooper Works Carbon Fiber version. 8) Custom Carbon Fiber inserts are installed on the steering wheel. 9) Car does have hands free Bluetooth for calling and audio. Misc Details: 1) The car will come with 2 sets of key fobs. I recently paid $500.00 for a new keyfob as the one that came with the car looked a little beat up. 2) All electronics work as they should and the only issue is sometimes when it is very hot outside the radio display is partially dim (but once the it cooled down inside it comes right back). 3) As stated mechanically the car is sound. It has had all maintenance done and runs great. AC is ice cold, heat works well. The brakes are good and do not need to be done anytime soon. The passenger side front rotor has a little warp in it so if you brake hard over 50 mph you feel a little shake in steering wheel but again its very small. 4) The car was just taken through the local BMW/Mini dealer and came back with a fully clean health check except for a few small items which were all corrected (listed above). 5) Honestly the paint is the worst part about car and even that is not bad. Some scratches & small dents around car and clear coat issues which are stated above. If you have any questions please let me know. GOOD LUCK BIDDING! The car comes with no warranty and it is the buyers responsibility to pick up.
