This engine was developed on the race track. If you drive them easy the potential problem is the design of the IMS bearing. I wanted a car that had been driven easy, so when I found this Boxster I had an IMS bearing retrofit by a certified Porsche mechanic. I had the retrofit double row ceramic hybrid bearing installed 01.13.2016. and is under warranty until 01.13.2018. While they were inside they recommended a clutch replacement, so the cutch was also replaced. This was done when the car had 39,000 miles. Failure rate with this bearing is 0 %. These are great, fun cars and are very dependable, but before you buy one, do a little research like I did and you will find out how important this is. Also, it is an “S” series, also research and see the difference. Has a clean Car Fax and has always been garage kept.
