Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1978 Triumph T140V Bonneville 750. I bought this motorcycle several years ago from a guy up in North Florida – My intention was to spend time completing his already begun restoration and then enjoy the delights of motorcycling. This motorcycle has sat in my garage for three years completely untouched and it’s time to move it on. Since then I’ve bought some Harleys and they take all my spare time. The original owner stated that he’d had the frame powder coated (which it looks like he did) but he’d never had the motor stripped, apart from the barrels and head. I had the bike started and running three years ago but then did a very stupid thing and kicked it into first gear without first making sure that the clutch plates were free. The bike lurched forward and the final drive chain jumped off the back wheel sprocket and jammed itself into the engine drive sprocket which is just where it is now. I’ve tried unsuccessfully to free the chain but so far it remains stuck in place. There’s no crankcase damage, just a stuck chain. There’s a chance that it will need a strip down to free it off and I’m just not prepared to spend the time in doing that so it’s up for sale. The odometer reads just over 9,000 miles - I do not know the history of the motorcycle therefore I cannot verify this as genuine. It’s all there – all complete – one or two items need reassembling e.g. the clutch is removed and in a box – I took it out in my attempts to free the jammed chain. There are one or two spares which the original owner gave to me which would come with the bike. The motorcycle can be viewed if required at North Port Florida 34286 – message me via Ebay if you would like to see it. I’m not asking the earth for it seeing as it’s currently not very well – but we all know the value of these machines when they’re up and running. I’m starting the auction at $1,500 – I believe I could get more than that in spares if I stripped it down and sold it for such so if you’re interested then place a bid.
