Vehicle Detail
This bike came to me last summer as a rolling project. A Vetter fairing had been removed and the brakes were in a box. I rebuilt the brakes and both master-cylinders, installed a new points plate, cleaned the carbs, changed the oil, rebuilt the front forks, added the correct headlight, added aftermarket mirrors, sourced new reproduction sidecovers and had them painted and applied F3 script. The bike was generally cleaned but this is not a restoration. The motor started right up and runs well with surprisingly good compression for the indicated mileage. I have some experience with this model as I used an F2 head married to a K4 motor for my record-holding Bonneville Salt Flats bike. Yes, I've been riding a CB750 since 1969. Based on the condition of the exhaust system (muffler) and the easy start-up with quiet valves, the indicated mileage may be less. The rear wheel has scratches from an apparent chain-brake but no marks were detected on the motor cases. These models have a case-protector built in to the sprocket cover. I replaced the chainguard and also installed a new battery. The used tires have good tread and new tubes. The gas tank is clean and the petcock was cleaned and a new gasket was installed. All lights work but the turn-signal beeper is a little slow.
