Call for details: 320-243-3797WE SELL WORLDWIDE 1975 BMW R90/6 Cafe Racer.A truly one-of-a-kind custom build.Everything completely rebuilt. In all aspects, a BRAND NEW BIKE. Frame number 4971371Engine number 4042127 I've been riding Airheads for a long time. And our shop has been servicing and building custom Airheads for many years. The R90/6 is my favorite, for its versatility and reliability. Our shop restores one or two every year and we build a cafe racer similar to this one every three or four years. A properly set-up R90/6 can cruise the highways at 80 mph all day long, and rip through the canyon roads as well as any motorcycle of its era. And its reputation for reliability is legendary. COMPLETE RESTORATIONCOMPLETE ENGINE OVERHAULCOMPLETE CHASSIS OVERHAUL WHEEL-TO-WHEEL FRAME-OFF RESTORATION HIGH PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONSWhen we contract a build like this one, we get upwards of $20,000, depending on details and upgrades. When we sell a build like this one on eBay, we're willing to take less, as the exposure helps us reach more potential buyers and also attracts service jobs.Feel free to make an offer. Feel free to request changes upon purchase. Feel free to ask questions. As with any full restoration, the engine and chassis have been completely overhauled. In the spirit of creativity, we've removed the entire top of the engine and fabricated a neat front engine cover to protect the electrics. The frame, rims, and other black parts have been powder coated. For increased electrical reliability, we converted to electronic ignition and an upgraded modern solid-state charging system. We machined each head to accept a second spark plug, and the spark is provided by high output coils. This set-up prevents detonation when lower octane gasoline is used, which allows us to retain the high compression of the stock engine without requiring the use of 100 octane gasoline. With dependability a priority, we performed only minor power modifications to the engine. We installed high performance pistons for a slight increase in horsepower. And we lightened and polished the rockers and lightened the flywheel, which resulted in quicker throttle response without sacrificing reliability. As you might assume, all engine parts are new: main crankshaft bearings, con-rod bearings, pistons, rings, valve guides, valves. We overhauled the transmission and clutch and replaced all drive train and rear-end oil seals. We overhauled the carbs. We relocated a modern sealed battery underneath the swingarm pivot to provide a lower center of gravity. The wheels have been rebuilt using stainless steel spokes and sticky Avon Road Rider sport tires keep the rubber-side down. Better braking is provided by a dual disc front brake conversion using genuine BMW parts. The master cylinder is hidden under the gas tank. The mini-instruments have a vintage look, while providing all the warning lights we expect on a modern bike. The handlebar mini-switches are ingeniously wired through relays to handle the high voltage required for the lighting and starter motor, and the result is a very clean-looking handlebar. All controls are easily accessed. You'll probably use the starter button to fire the bike to life, but the kick start lever works well. When you choose to kick start the bike, you'll enjoy the expressions on the faces of the younger generation watching you. The Beemer's unique design turns heads, and the bike handles like a dream. Stopping power is phenomenal. Clear title in my name. You can find a video of a 'cold-start' on Y0U Tube by searching for "1975 BMW Cafe Racer Zap Leather and Cycle". On Jan-31-17 at 17:02:09 PST, seller added the following information: I've been having a conversation with a fellow about the build. I forgot to post his first few questions / my answers, so decided to post them here. Q: Very nice work. A: Thank you sir. We take great pride in all of our restorations and custom builds. Chuck at Zap Leather and Cycle Q: Yes I see you do. The R90 / 6 is one of my favorite bikes. Wondering by removing the cover off the top of motor does that harm any of the electrical stuff ? A: The R90/6 is one of my favorite vintage bikes as well. The only electrical stuff now exposed to the weather is the starter motor and wiring. We have never had a problem, but a full day of riding in the rain might not be very healthy to that wiring. Most starter motor/and wiring ARE exposed on most motorcycles. The top of the engine that we've removed acts as the air box of course, and we don't need an airbox anymore, using air cleaner pods. We want a unique look and we want to save weight, and we accomplish both with our modification. Glad you like it. Chuck at Zap Leather and Cycle.. btw, search Y0U tube for "Zap Cycle 1975 BMW R90/6 Cafe Racer " for a look at a similarly built BMW cafe racer that we completed in 2013. (No kickstarter on this one). Q:Thanks will link at the video. So how much horse power are you cranking out with these improvements you do? How light is bike also?A: I don't have a dyno, but an educated guess would be 60 HP to the rear wheel. The improved throttle response and quicker acceleration is noticeable. Curb weight is exactly 391 pounds with a gallon of gas in the 2.6 gallon tank, or 394 pounds with a full tank, which is 60 pounds lighter than stock. The front carries 47.5% of the weight, while the rear holds up 52.5%.
