Vehicle Detail
Meet IzzyLou. IzzyLou is a beloved 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with just 34,400 original miles. (Yes, 34,400 miles.) IzzyLou has been with the same family since new and has been garage-kept for the past 12 years. This Olds is burgundy with grey herringbone cloth interior and is in good condition. This car has never been in an accident. This car is rust-free. This car has been extraordinarily well-maintained mechanically. This Olds runs and drives well and is reliable. The documentation for this car is astonishing. The documentation includes everything from the original window sticker, bill of sale and odometer statement, to the most recent service an everything in between. Every oil change, every tire rotation, every service scheduled or not. All service records and receipts for twenty-six years are included. And they are exhaustive. Nothing is missing. They even include the owner's notes that prompted the service appointment and summaries of the conversations with the mechanics. Recent maintenance includes a new battery, radiator, alternator, and AC compressor among other things. The car drives as a 1990 Olds Cutlass Ciera should. It has the 3.3 liter V6 and automatic transmission. The engine is strong and accelerates smoothly. The transmission shifts smoothly and downshifts crisply when floored, and all the mechanical inputs are consistent with the age and miles. The car tracks straight. All the accessories and features work. The car is reliable, easy to drive, and smooth on the highway. The AC blows cold (serviced July 2015). The heat blows hot. The vent switches and fan speed switches all work as do the defroster. All the interior and exterior lights work. The car passed its most recent New York State inspection with no issues. The tires have lots of tread life left. The pictures here show the car in its current state. The car was not washed or detailed prior to these pictures being taken. The intention is to show the car as honestly as possible. The car was repainted in 2004 to correct peeling paint on the horizontal surfaces, a flaw that affected so many GM products of that era. While the paint is good and all body panels straight, there are some scuffs, couple dings, and minor cosmetic flaws. We have done our best to capture those in the pictures. Many more detailed pictures can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/ny6h5e3vpc2wa2a/AAAX8-UJVtuioMFD4EpeBYnra and here: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/s0g7qjm3o0z9dtu/AACsRPLnO5lGo3LA3Y-0zW3ka (with undercarriage shots and pics of the fluids.)Here are the flaws: There are some scuffs which we captured in the photos. The headliner is sagging and needs to be fixed. The brakes were recently serviced and an adjustment seems to be needed because the rear brakes lock-up under heavy braking. This may be fixed by the time the car is sold. The glove box latch is best described as finicky. It opens fine but the latch needs to be closed with a tiny screwdriver for it to stay closed. (The screwdriver comes with the car!) The ashtray under the dashboard needs to stay closed at the risk of falling out. (This was a non-issue for the owner as this is a non-smoking car.) The power windows are slow (despite being serviced several years ago). The rear power windows are very slow (the driver's rear power window switches have been covered with scotch tape to prevent the attendants in the garage from overusing them. Some of the rubber trim around the windows are cracked. There is a small dent at the top of the driver's side rear door. There is also a nearly-identical small dent just above and to the right of the front passenger side door handle. Both dents are consistent with that of a parking lot ding from a large SUV. The dents and scuffs are the result from living in a tightly packed Manhattan garage for many years. The interior is free of any stains, tears, or funky smells. There are some squeaks and rattles consistent with a twenty-six year-old car. We have tried our best to capture the flaws in the photos. We have many more photos including detail shots. They can be found here and here with undercarriage shots and pics of the fluids (oil, transmission, coolant, etc.) Have questions? Ask! We are happy to answer them. The reserve price is a bit less than what a very similar car nearby (same color and model but with many more miles) recently sold for here on eBay. Car is located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. IzzyLou deserves to find good new owners. Fix the headliner, adjust the rear brakes, give it a scrub, and enjoy driving this time capsule.
