I've owned are driven this car for the past six years and can attest it has been perfect. The 355 is essentially the continuation of the Dino and in some respects is the last of the hand made Ferrari road cars. Sitting in and looking out of the 355 feels much like a Dino (I actually own a Dino in the same color). On the other hand, it possesses vastly more power in a package that cares little if you're driving to the grocery store or on the Autobahn. These cars are uncomplicated by computers and therefore vastly easier to live with than most of the super cars that came after them. The five valve heads and titanium connecting rods are extraordinary race technology the Ferrari people decided to reward their non F1 team driver public with.....truly phenomenal stuff! These are the last Ferraris built on a steel substructure and consequently a safer car to own should you ever get into a shunt and need to repair it. The 360 series cars and a newer utilize aluminium and carbon in the frame substructure and represent a substantially larger contingent liability. As you are shopping for a 355, make note that the year you want is the 1995. It has the earlier coveted fuel injection system. Furthermore, if you're looking at this as an appreciating asset then it makes sense to buy a coupe and one in a rare and more desirable color such as this car has. Ferrari produced 4,871 Berlinetta (or coupe) 355 cars with a mere 200 of them in blue. My car has fewer than 2000 miles on the timing belts but they have almost 4 years on them so you might put it on your "to do" list. The tires are new and I've stayed assiduously on top of all maintenance. The a/c blows very cold. There are absolutely no squeaks or rattles. The car steers and stops straight. The gaps are spot on and the doors shut like a door on a bank vault. Everything works and the car comes with the books, tools and leather pouch from new.
