Vehicle Detail
I inherited this motorcycle from my uncle who was a professional motorcycle restorer for 50 years. I have some knowledge of this bike but I'm guessing not everything. First off this was originally being built for one of his clients who ran into financial problems and abandoned the bike. It's a 1968 CL77 that has been totally disassembled, refinished and reassembled. The frame was sandblasted and then powder coated. All chrome has been re-chromed. The motor had the top end rebuilt, the cases were split and two gears were replaced along with clutch plates. The plates were new old stock. The carbs were cleaned and rebuilt. The old charging system has been replaced by a "Charlie's Place" regulator. The battery is one year old. The rims were disassembled and then the original rims were chromed and new spokes were installed. A new chain and sprockets have been installed. The tires are new and are geared for street applications. The tank and side covers were professionally repainted. The tank was cleaned and sealed. The fuel tap was rebuilt. The exhaust has "Snuff or Not" and are just fine noise wise when they are closed. The chrome fenders were stock on this bike and some other parts have been chromed but it's unknown if they were done by factory or dealer. The engine covers were at some time polished instead of silver paint. The front forks were rebuilt and the lower fork legs were polished as well. This motor has less then a hundred miles on it. I drove to one bike meet and it ran just fine. It attracted a lot of attention from other bikers. Now the bad: It is not the original motor, it has been replaced at sometime in life and the front fender at some time was bobbed back about an inch. It looked fine to my uncle and he had it re-chromed. Of course the bike is almost 50 years old and thus no warranty. Transportation, I'll deliver to a shipping company or if you're within 500 miles I'll meet you half way. The bike hit 80mph with my 230lbs on it and when warmed up it idles just fine. It cruises along just fine at 55mph.
