Vehicle Detail
Original 1955 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan First introduced in 1955 as Ford's top of the line trim level for the full sized model, the new Ford Fairlane was named after Henry Ford’s Fair Lane mansion in Dearborn. As top of the line, the ’55 Fairlane included chrome around the window and “A” pillar moldings (hardtop and Sunliner), chrome brows on the headlight doors and chrome side molding, plus all custom line trim and optional was the flashy two-tone paint scheme. The Fairlane was offered in six different body styles and flavors, from the rare plastic top Crown Victoria, to the convertible Sunliner and steel-top Victoria hardtop coupe, and traditional sedans. This is an original car that has not been restored, with original upholstery from seats, rugs, and elbow panels are in nice condition for a 60+ year old car. The headliner has a couple of minor repairs, There is a small tear behind the visor, which is out of site. The radio and heater were recently repaired. The radio is a 9 tube Motorola. The clock stops and goes, and may just need cleaning. The dash on this car is just beautiful. The paint is unique with Sea Foam Green over Snowshoe White. It was repainted many years ago, but still looks good as I always get thumbs up when driving it . A little touch up is all it needs to keep this wonderful 55 looking sharp. This is also the first year that the wrap around windshield and rear window were introduced.(note: the back window has an original Vets for Ike sticker on the rear window). The engine is a 272 165/hp that was rebuilt and runs great. The Fordamatic transmission shifts as it should, with a nice passing gear. The see through speedometer is impressive and works but the odometer is stuck. I have estimated the mileage on the car. Chrome bumpers and trim are in great condition. The wipers work as designed as they are vacuum. Note there are two small holes in the drivers side fender, that have been filled, where the side mirror was once located by a previous owner. The breaks and wheel cylinders, as well as the master cylinder are strong. It goes down the road nice and straight when you let go of the wheel. Front shocks recently replaced. Car has blue dot tail lights. The car has a new battery and I will include weather stripping for the doors.the engine has recently been detailed with chrome valve covers as shown. I will include the original covers. The interior kick panels have been replaced. There are new throw rugs as pictured. I will include the Dodge Lancer hub caps along with the original hub caps. This car has been well cared for and not abused. I typically only take it out on sunny days for car shows and parades. The car is kept in garage storage, however I have another car and must make room, so I am reluctantly parting with this wonderful 1955 beauty. You don't find original cars from this era very often.
