Vehicle Detail

This is a frame off restoration of a totally rust free Georgia Fj40 that spent its life in Georgia and has been stored since 2001. It has just over fifty thousand original miles and has oil change receipts to show mileage. The motor was rebuilt by Toyota of Knoxville Tn. and the transmission was checked by them and said everything was ok. The engine has less than five hundred miles on rebuild. It was purchased from Spreen Toyota, Chamblee, Ga. The list if items replaced is to numerous to detail but I have notebook of all receipts spent on it. Just always like the body style. I had purchased some things on ebay and went to pick them up and this fj was in garage covered with blankets and so many other things in garage and I couldn't see it. I asked what it was and she told me it was a fj40 and she and husband had gotten a divorce and she was going to sell at yard sale. It had been in garage since 2001. A few months later I called and we agreed on price and I purchased. The head on motor was off and and she didn't know know where ex husband was and what was wrong with motor. I had rebuilt and then decided to go ahead and do restoration big mistake. Painter said three months and eighteen months later I get back. Toyota kept eight months fixing engine. i'm just tired of people not doing what they say and time for someone to enjoy it and not endure the pain of restoration. I've been three and half years doing this. I have receipts for over thirty five thousand I've spent plus the purchase of vehicle. This was a great vehicle before restoration not a rust bucket that has been given a face lift to look good, I've found when you have rust you always have it. It always seems to come back. Compare this one to any you see on ebay for fifty thousand plus. I have pictures from beginning to end and you know what your getting. The engine block is from a 1980. I had engine rebuilt when purchased and it didn't sound right and the machine shop that rebuilt it kept telling me nothing was wrong. I decided to take to Toyota Dealer and have torn down and checked. They said something about pistons being wrong. I had them to rebuild engine again and I drove it twelve miles and the engine blew up and destroyed block and there was a rag left in oil line on block that caused it to blow up. I guess you can understand why i'm getting a little frustrated. Also the original re builder wouldn't pay me for the build and I lost three thousand on that. The engine has been re-bored and new pistons rods bearings crank machined new oil pump. The head has been rebuilt to with new valve springs, valves, lifters and push rods. The problems I know are the front doors need adjusting about closing, When body shop re-installed doors and putting new weather stripping on they didn't get right.Part of the pollution control on engine aren't there. I have some parts and the pump on motor was removed to install power steering. The power Steering came from classic cruisers in Colorado. I used their kit because its all rebuilt or new and no cutting of frame or body. they told me they use a new Saginaw pump and other parts were from Toyota mini trucks. The kit was eleven hundred. Reserve right to end auction any time for sale locally. No warranty or guarantee. Sold as is. I have pictures of before restoration and during restoration but I'm having problems posting links call or text me for links. Tom 865-806-7234
