Vehicle Detail

I bought this awesome 2001 Mercedes Benz S600 eight years ago. At the time it had 61,000 miles. I have driven it up to 132,000. Unfortunately, in February 2016, she chewed up a cam shaft and introduced metal into the engine block. My long-time mechanic found a fresh block and heads and was going to swap the engines at a cost of $6000 (parts included). I decided that as much as I love this car, it was time to move on. I bought a Bentley Turbo R to replace her. In 2001, this S600 was the absolute top of the line. It is a 12 cylinder, four door sedan priced at approximately $150,000. It is the Maybach, before they started making them again. The car has loads of very rare (and expensive options). These include: Four place executive seating package ($4000). These are the separate rear buckets with recline, heat, massage, air conditioning, etc. AMG Sport package ($5000). More aggressive body. Speed controlling radar cone in grill (Distronic), ($3000). Designo Espresso Edition ($7,500) with Mocha Black exterior and Elm interior. The seats look like baseball glove leather and are spectacular. These cars require a bit of TLC to keep in top form. There are lots of systems that need occasional attention. Over the past eight years (excluding this most recent engine issue), I have spent in excess of $20,000 keeping her in shape. I have all the receipts for the work I had done. This includes: replaced transmission, alternator, both coil packs within the last six months, S class door fix to bottoms where rust appears, new rims, tires, battery, struts, bushings, brakes, radiator, etc. I did A LOT of continuing maintenance to this car. The body is in good shape. I have had the doors fixed at the bottoms where almost all S class sedans of this era get rust bubbles. There is some bubbling over the rear wheel wells and a little bit at the bottom of the gas filler door. I'm sure my mechanic would be happy to replace the engine for you (the car is well known in the shop which is owned by a semi retired Mercedes dealer mechanic). Or (tears), you can use the parts on her to keep your S600 in great shape. I spent almost $3000 on the coil packs just a few months before the engine issue. All of those parts attached to the engine are is good shape. It's just the block and heads on the oil system that need to be replaced.
