Vehicle Detail

1982 Mercedes Benz 380 SEC Coupe (C126/W126) a timeless Classic Beauty. This rare SEC forced to sell due to loss of job is 1 of only 1732 SEC's to hit US soil in the 1982 model year the rarest of all Mercedes Full Size Flagship Coupe's (SEC) granted US access that model year (1991 2nd lowest at about 2000 units. This is the coolest full size Coupe ever with amazing lines especially for back-in-the-day and fetching an amazing $55,000 -crazy money in 82 (an 82 Corvette was less than $20K). I love these cars this is my 3rd SEC (87 & 90) and wanted an 82 this time, the 1st batch that hit the USA. Looked hard not many 82's around but lucky to find one that was near complete & nice, and that needed things I could do at my leisure while driving it around town and enjoying the car. This Mercedes Benz 380SEC is a great runner with a solid drive train, plenty of power, starts without even a puff of smoke and super clean from top to bottom - Interior/Exterior/Engine Bay/Trunk, even the undercarriage looks amazing. The paint is great with some very minor scratches and a door ding which dealer paintless-fixer said not a big deal. Nice chrome except the trunk 380SEC badge, found a brand new MB OEM 380SEC badge in Germany which will be on car or come with it. The open trunk pic shows serveral publications 2 of 3 come with car - The large "AUTO WEEK" magazine which is a REAL-DEAL ORIG dated Nov 23, 1981 still has clear subscriber mailing label attached cleanly w/ his name & address...This Auto Week issue was the very first US magazine announcing the 1982 SEC coming to US markets; a near-new real (not reprint) 1982 Mercedes Benz Showroom SEC dealer sales brochure also pictured & comes with car. And the 82 SEC Owners Manual (not pictured) in glove box. Out of the very few SEC's to ever hit US soil - cant be many nice 82's left in US have seen one or two advertised over the last yr thats it! In the many month before I lost my job, I made the big purchases, Brand New yes - Brand New Grey Leather Buckets completely swapped out finished in some fine leather Interior Trim Expert must come from Calif (Luckily I knew the guy thru friends but still $$$), he only does Benz/Rolls/Bentley interior trim so I caught a breaknice newer burlwood interior trim & extra wood and other trim comes with car. This SEC very clean inside-out- engine bay- trunk- and even the undercarriage, no rust, no hits, no mud - super-straight body, matching numbers car with CLEAN CARFAX & CLEAR TITLE IN HAND. Not knowing I would lose my job this was my new baby last year and since then I invested about $2500 between Buckets, some trim, other parts, and a New A/C system including Compressor and related components (needed for GA/FL heat). And, when not toooo hot, the sunroof works perfect like new. After other two wanted thee rare 1982 I was glad to make it mine and have sold everything else I can to keep it but too late must go... It Needs a new antenna; the vacuum pump in trunk that work the power locks keeps running even when car is off so I disconnected it - MB MECH said since pump works likely a switch, short or wire issues - easy fix; surprise - dash clock does not work; it has a very nice Sony AM/FM CD player needs new front speakers ($65 for OEM used originals on ebay or new aftermarket speakers around the same) but sounds great with rears. I know the last owner and he knows the owner before that both in GA and these older guys also had it as their toy and last guy put a ton of money into it prior to serious health issues so I was glad to get it! IN THE LAST 2 YEARS BETWEEN HIM AND I ABOUT $6500 WENT INTO THIS CAR AND THAT IS NOT COUNTING THE COST OF THE CAR, SO THIS SEC IS A GREAT BARGAIN AND WHY THIS CLASSIC LOOKS REGAL AND CA RUN THE HIGHWAYS SMOOTH AND STEADY: CONVERSION FROM SINGLE TO "DOUBLE-ROW TIMING CHAIN" INSTALLED WITH NEW TIMING COVER $$$$$COMPLETE MB TUNE UP INCLUDING NEW PLUGS/ ROTOR PLUG-WIRES; ALL FILTERS; OTHER $$COMPLETE NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM STILL LIKE NEW NO SNOW RAIN HITS IT $$CHROMED LATE 80'S OEM SEC 15 INCH RIMS & NEW TIRES INSTALLED $$$$FRONT END INSPECTION - ALIGNMENT; OIL/FILTER CHANGE - REINSPECTION BY MY GUY FRONT END AND UNDERNEATH PERFECT - LAST 90 DAYS $$NEW A/C COMPRESSOR AND ALL RELATED PARTS (PREVIOUS CONVERSION TO R134a FREON) TO MAKE A/C FROSTY FOR THE GA/FL HEAT $$$NEW MB OEM POWER FRONT BUCK SEATS w/ TOP QUALITY LEATHER IMPORTED FROM CA BY VINTAGE MBENZ/ROLLS/BENTLEY UPHOLSTERY-MASTER'S TRIM SHOP $$$NEW OEM STYLE HEADLINER (higher quality from CA but perfect match) $$NEW "USED QUALITY OLD-STOCK" BURLWOOD DASH & CONSOLE PIECES AS U CAN SEE; other extra OEM smaller interior trim parts too DON'T LET THE LIST SCARE YOU I AM ASKING A REASONABLE PRICE FOR GREAT CAR YOU CAN BABY OR DRIVE DAILY WHICH NEEDS ALMOST NOTHING...AS U CAN SEE PLENTY INVESTED SO UR BIG TIME GAIN... And, it runs so good I think the heads may have been done but have no way to confirm that as it would have been prior to the 2 owners before me. Since a rare classic I would never part it out but if you add up the parts they are worth way more than you will pay for the entire car. If you love SEC's, don't miss this deal. Thanks for looking & stay safe. Message with questions, available to be driven supervised locally with ID and insurance card and if you are over 30...or have a wade of cash with you ;)) Thx, Bill
