Vehicle Detail
Matching numbers 1967 Triumph Bonneville 650cc motorcycle. The bike was purchased in used condition and restored to what you see here. New big end shells installed on crank journals, still within standard specification. Sludge trap removed and cleaned. Previous owner had installed thirty over pistons which saw little use based on how they looked when engine was disassembled. Cylinder to piston clearances within spec. The head was replaced with a 1967 head, to resolve the various stripped threads in the one that came with the bike. The replacement head had been rebuilt with new valves and guides. The frame, swingarm, fork sliders, headlight ears, and other chassis hardware were powder coated. The oil tank, left side cover, and gas tank were all painted by Craig McGlothlen at Precision Motorcycle Painting. The tank colors were as closely matched as possible to 1967's Aubergine and Alaskan White paint scheme. Nuts and bolts were cad plated by International Custom Chrome, and replacement fasteners are NOS and obtained from Job Cycle stock. ICC also polished the front brake backing plate, and I polished the balance of the aluminum components (and still finding mop fibers several years later in various places in the garage. :-) The wheels were rebuilt by a local wheel builder using stainless spokes. Both rims are stock Dunlop, and the rear one was replaced by a good, used, original to address the over polishing and subsequent wear-through of chrome of the one that came with the bike. AMAL Concentric carburetors are correct for the 1967 serial number. Boyer Bransden ignition has been fitted along with a sealed gel mat battery. The carbs were tuned by an experienced Brit bike mechanic at Job Cycle. The result is a bike that starts with one or two kicks whether it is cold, hot, or warm. It is a reliable starter and runner. It pulls well, and revs well, as a good Bonnie should. Header pipes are original Bonnie and were replated. Silencers are repops, as is the seat, and rear shocks. The bike has that wonderful, unique Triumph vertical twin sound. I am parting with it due to downsizing, and the realization that I really don't ride much anymore. This bike needs to be ridden and is ready for it. The bike is being sold at no reserve. Good luck and let me know if you have questions. The buyer will be responsible for transport to its new home.
