NOTE: Price Reduced, no reserve. Stiletto Specifics You are looking at an extremely rare, low-mile, 2001 BMW R1200c Stiletto. Originally developed as a “Dark” concept in collaboration with Gobbi Design, BMW actually put the Stiletto into production with estimated limited run at 200 machines in all. If you are familiar with the R1200c, then you know that the original 1998 release was featured in the James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies.” The Stiletto stands out from other trim packages with the following design queues: understated aesthetics presented in gloss black (no stripes) with Grafitan (dark grey trim), clear signal lenses, the clear Euro windshield and Avantgarde brights. At 15 years of age, the R1200c still competes with modern machines given standard features that include ABS brakes, heated grips, the ultra-smooth, rear shaft-drive and cantilever front suspension. If you are familiar with BMW’s then you know their renown for reliability and longevity and as a low-mileage machine, this bike is an outstanding ride. The Bike Before You This is not my first BMW, but the R1200c is the reason I chose the to go with the roundel. In 2007, I sold my R1100s in order to purchase this Stiletto as this model is truly my dream bike. The Phoenix perhaps comes in second, but even then, not even close. It is the bike I swore never to sell. Why sell you ask? I have stopped riding. Plain and simple. As impressive as the bike is to gaze at, this bike deserves to be ridden. It really is an stand-out machine, but riding is a must for someone other than me. The miles I have put on this bike were purely for pleasure. Though it would be an excellent commuter, I stuck to the weekend bi-ways, hence the low-mileage. The majority of my riding consisted of day-trips. I did take 2 long-distance rides, including an epic rendezvous tour of Idaho. It was an awesome experience and when under full load, the bike’s performance was marvelous. My BMW’s have been consistently serviced by the same, reputable Master Mechanic. Most recently, the bike received Spring service with complete fluid flush in March. It has passed Utah inspection, is registered, licensed and ready to ride! Outside of the blemishes mentioned below, any problems with this bike are purely cosmetic and the ride is in perfect working order.Tipped on gravel at 5,200 miles, it received several new parts for cosmetic reasons including a new tank and bars, side valve cover, brake lever and new mufflers. The seat is clean, but beginning to show the effects of Utah’s harsh, dry air. (photo) The rear tail light housing is sound, but has a crack due to over tightening the fastener. (photo) The chrome rim has some flecking that is common with the period’s aluminum alloy.
