Vehicle Detail

“Jolene” Jolene is a 1953 Dodge “Pilot House” B-4-B pickup. As far as I know, she spent her entire life working on a farm in Gainesville, Georgia. In 1978, the farmer who owned her decided to take her apart, perhaps to restore her after 25 years of service. Something must have happened because the farmer never did put her back together and she sat in the barn from 1978 until 2010, when the barn caught fire and burned to the ground. Fortunately, Jolene was saved as she was rolled out of the barn before she herself caught fire. In 2011, a fireman named "Kyle" bought the farm and moved onto the property. Jolene was included and he decided it would be best to find a new home for her. By chance he drove by the Village Garage shop in the East Village of Atlanta and spotted a very similar 1951 Dodge on the property, so he went in to talk to the owner of the shop, "Mike". Mike was into vintage cars and 2 months later, they had Jolene trucked over to his shop. Mike began what would be a 2 year process of re-assembly and re-building. Jolene’s frame, engine, parts and pieces where very solid and everything was complete and original. The entire drivetrain is original, including her original “flat head six” motor and “three on the tree” gearbox. Even the radiator is original. She received a new brake system and new fuel system. Her electrical and cooling systems (except the radiator) were rebuilt. New glass (where needed) and rubber seals were installed. The bed boards have been replaced with half oak planks and half poplar. Mike used her as a shop truck and she became a recognizable member of the East Village neighborhood as he drove her around town, picking up parts and supplies for his business Based on the condition of many of the mechanical parts and the fact that farm trucks typically do not log many miles, we believe that the mileage may be original at 46K. I bought her from Mike in March 2015 and did a few more improvements including fixing the parking brake, rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the rear axle seals, installing new tires and a new battery and I had the distributor rebuilt. I really enjoy driving her around the neighborhood and I use her when I need to haul something or pick something up from Home Depot. She is an excellent truck and a hard worker, still. She starts right up every time and runs like a top! Of course, she gets lots of love and attention from strangers wherever she goes. I love Jolene but we recently bought a house to restore and I’ve decided to let her go. If you are interested, please give me a call or text/email. I also have her for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Current Owner, Ron, 770-616-3300Shipping: Buyer is responsible for all shipping but I am happy to assist within reason.Payment: All standard payment forms are acceptable on the condition that funds are cleared in my account before delivery. On May-08-16 at 06:02:00 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE 5/8/16: Thanks everyone for your interest and questions! Based on some questions I’ve received here is some additional info on the truck: The speedometer and odometer work great. Top speed is around 45 to 50 miles per hour. The fuel, oil pressure and temperature gauge all work. I believe the Amp gauge works but it always indicates in the middle position so I’m not 100% sure about that one. The brakes are original drum brakes and they work great. The suspension is all original leaf springs. The windshield wiper components are original and in place. These are powered by engine vacuum. The vacuum lines were not hooked up when I got the truck. I'm not sure how well they work. The passenger side window glass came loose from the window regulator and will need to be reattached with window adhesive to be functional. Right now I have it secured in the up position. I have a complete set of new door seals, operable window seals, window sweepers and felt channels for the two front doors. These will come with the truck. Rust: The frame is solid and the body is solid. There are a couple of small rust spots on the lower driver and passenger door skins and on the rear passenger fender. These are very small. To fix them would sort of detract from the cool vintage look, but they are really easy to fix if you wanted to. I would be happy to send close up photos of these items or any other item for possible buyers.
