This is a 1972 Mercedes Benz 280 SEL 4.5 . It has been off the road in storage since 2002 I got it outside Palm Springs , California with some other cars. As such, it is pretty much clean and rustfree. The left rear bottom in trunk corner is rusted, as most of these cars always are. The bottom of the spare box has a little rust also, but not bad. The floors, rockers, arches, fenders, doors , etc are clean and rustfree. I got this from a 87 year old fellow who owned this car for most of its life.He stopped driving this car about 12 years ago and then just parked it. Tires were bad when I got it and I put rollers on it. 2 center caps are missing on the rims.The other 2 are in the trunk, along with the 2 side moldings on the drivers side. The interior needs work Wood is old and bad..I took the sheepskin seat covers off and found out why they were on. Ripped , torn old original seats covered in places with good old duct tape. Not sure on mechanical history of car. Got it back to my shop and put battery to it, some gas from a jug down the intake and it fired right up. Left it at that. This is sold as a project car that will need to be gone thru before being brought back to the road. I checked switches and everything seemed to work. Window lifts, sunroof, wipers, etc. Not sure on the vintage built in cell phone. Headliner in pretty good shape. Nice bumpers. Windshield has chip on passenger side. Paint is flat and sunfaded from sitting in the Desert sunshine for years. And has chips and other damage to probably the original factory paint. So new paint is in order .Some lens are broken and most are sunfaded. This car needs work after sitting for years. A lot. You will not drive it home. Hopefully, it will not take much to get it up and running again down the roads. But it may. But if I was a betting man, I would bet the farm it will not take much. But I have been wrong before. Many times. But with a body as nice, as rustfree and solid as this, this is the car to take that gamble with.Car has a clean California Pink slip title . Full payment within 7 days of auction end.
