Rarely will you get the opportunity to own a '68 Mercedes 230--the last of the Fintails--in this color. It is among the most beautiful body styles and colors Mercedes made and is very FUN to drive. The suspension is softer than the W123 cars and rides nice over pot holes. Mercedes introduced a pioneering impact-absorbing safety cage design and crumple zones with this model so the W110 models were among the first Mercedes cars to be extensively crash tested for occupant safety. DETAILS AND HISTORY Vehicle Identification Number 110.011-10-038765. Body style W110 aka Fintail (Heckfloss in German) Color Horizon Blue #304. Odometer 6,441. Actual mileage believed to be 106,441. Being sold on a clean and clear smog exempt title. This has always been a California car. It has the original blue plates from the 70's. The previous owned lived in Antioch. This vehicle is remarkably original and has been well-maintained with genuine parts. Only 40,258 of these cars were built. ENGINE The engine is the 2.3 Liter M180.949 inline six, known for reliability and durability Idles and runs well and cruises at 70 miles per hour It is emissions (smog) exempt Good compression, no white smoke. Delivers a solid 120HP @5400rpm. Vehicle has its original engine (the engine # is 180.949-10-015756) so all the numbers match. This engine was used for many years in many cars (not just Mercedes) so service parts are available and generally inexpensive. BODY This car was painted Horizon Blue in February 2016 Prior to painting, any rust or body work was addressed. Body has no dents or dings. It features chrome-trimmed air outlets on the C-pillars which are signature to this rare model. The original 13 inch steel wheels feature hub caps painted to match the exterior color and brand new sport performance radial tires in the original size, 185 70 13. The car will be delivered with new lower trim chrome strips and the left rear chrome trim strip. It has the cool old Euro bumpers. The turning radius is awesome. The beauty is its simplicity; manual door locks and windows and no relentless beeping when you do not wear your seat belt. Also no issues like later models that have vacuum leaks or problems with heater vents not opening, nor the cost of fixing them. INTERIOR Has ample room for five occupants and their luggage. The interior is comfortable, in good condition and matches the car nicely. Was professionally cleaned and shampooed last week. Reclining front seats, front-door map pockets a center armrest in the back seat. There is a rose embroidered in the center of the rear seat cushion. The dash is sporting a new DashPad cover and features a retro vertical instrument cluster which is very cool. The dash cluster and steering wheel make you feel like you are driving something special, and you will get a steady flow of compliments whenever you drive it. This car has excellent surround visibility. All windows and door locks and latches work and all the glass is in good condition. The back window and two rear windows are tinted. The trunks is GIANT! The entire vehicle including, door jams, running boards, window frames and trunk was painted last month. SERVICE It received a full service and lube last week and includes the entire Mercedes Service Library and manual on CD. Other brand new items include: fuel pump clutch master cylinder clutch slave cylinder clutch disc, pressure plate and bearings brake cylinder steering stabilizer battery transmission shifter bushings air filter oil change coolant flushed and refilled with new 50/50 mix brake and clutch fluid replaced gear oil replaced in transmission and differential with synthetic 75/90 fuel tank and fuel lines drained and cleaned replaced blown fuses new tires push button starter switch added beneath dash It helps if the buyer is mechanically inclined or has a good mechanic and there are many who still know this model. It pays to start with a complete car and this is it. This vehicle is virtually unaltered from stock which makes it a joy to drive and work on.
