Vehicle Detail

This is my Audi A4 Quattro Wagon, 2001. 2.8 V6, 5 speed manual, all wheel drive. 219,xxx k miles Silver, paint is in good condition for the age. Shines nicely in the sun. Minimal paint chips on the hood. Some paint chips and scrapes on the rear bumper. Black leather, good condition. Some scuffing, but remarkably tidy for age. Has all of the available options. Heated, powered seats, tilting-sliding sunroof, xenon headlights, front airbags, front and rear side airbags, roof rack, CD player, Bose audio system. S-line package: 17 inch wheels, lower, sportier suspension, heavier sports shock absorbers, sports steering wheel. I have all receipts and maintenance records back to the first owner. The car has been babied and well cared for. No expense spared until the owner prior to me. He deferred some maintenance, but I have caught up most of it. The condition very good for a 220k mile vehicle. It has a fresh oil change (synthetic) and a fresh smog certificate from the day of listing. Cambelt, water pump, tensioners were all done at 175k miles. At 205k miles, I undertook a lot of maintenance. I rebuilt the whole suspension. This included all ball joints, steering arms, rod ends, suspension arms, suspension bushes, shock absorbers on all four corners. I also replaced the front driveshafts. I did this work myself, so have receipts for parts, and some photos of the work being done. As a result of the all new suspension, it drives as if it were a new car. I replaced the heater core. Again, receipt for the part, and a photo of the whole dashboard out to do it. This is a known failure point on this car, and it takes about 30hrs labor to replace. I replaced both O2 sensors, a coolant sensor, and the whole set of top-end seals, so that it doesn’t leak oil. Air conditioning blows properly cold, (does not need a recharge!). Heat blows hot. All four tires are Falken Zeix, 225/45/ZR17. They are matching - I maintained the car properly. Tread is pretty good. Flaws:The synchro on second gear is tired and notchy. If you have a sympathetic hand it is fine. If you shift all Fast and Furious, it will graunch. I meant to rebuild the box, but never got to it. I believe the fuel filter needs replacing, and it isn’t flowing well. At heavy load and high revs, the engine will give an occasional hesitation or stutter, as if fuel supply is low. (It could be something else. I haven’t got to it.) The panel gaps on the front bumper are a little larger than they could be. This could mean it has had some front end damage at some point, and the bumper wasn’t put on as carefully as it could have been. The front speakers have gone crackly. When I have the stereo playing, it is through the back speakers only. There is some kind of chemical mark and hole in a crease on the rear seat. The info-display in the dash is pixelated - they really do all do that :) At a recent oil change, the service message wasn’t reset, so the display still reminds you of a service at every start-up. Overall:Overall, this car is solid, reliable, and in good condition. It is a 220k mile Audi, and they have a reputation for not being super reliable, and expensive to maintain. I have found it reliable, and any time maintenance needed to be done, time consuming. I recommend you only buy it if you do your own maintenance. If you pay someone else to maintain it, it will probably end up costing you a lot. I have described this as well as I can. I can't claim to have covered everything, and don't know what your particular concerns are. Please, do your own research, call me, come and inspect the car. I'm really happy to help. Remember you are bidding to buy, not to inspect. Don’t try and pull a “He said it was x-condition, but really it’s y-condition.” Any attempt to negotiate after you win the auction, and I will not sell to you. Ask all of your questions, and complete any inspection before you bid. Car must be collected within five days of the end of the auction - by Wednesday 13th April. If not collected by this time, I will probably give it to charity. Kelly Blue Book list the price of a “Good” example of this car at $1800. I think "Good" is a fair description.
