No Reserve 1983 Mercedes Benz 280CE 4 Speed Euro coupe I am selling my Uncles Mercedes 280CE. He bought the car in 1990 and drove the car very little. About 3 years ago he decided to start restoring the car. He removed everything from the exterior of the car and stripped the car to metal as the original paint was starting to check. He sent it to a body shop and spent $5,000 having the car painted and color sanded and buffed in the original color. The car then sat in the garage for the last 2 years as he fell ill. I took the car and put all of the trim and lights back on the car using all new Mercedes clips. I then took the car to a Mercedes specialist and had him get the car up and running. He cleaned the fuel system, changed all the fluids and filters, adjusted the valves, replaced the cam cover gasket and new plugs and wires. A new battery is installed. The car runs well, although I think the fuel pump relay needs to be replaced, if you bump it, the car dies and then it starts right up again. The clutch is smooth and it shifts very nicely. I know that a 4 speed car is pretty rare as it is only on the Euro cars. The cloth interior is very nice with no tears. The left front bumper rubber will need to be replaced as will the 2 outer wiper/rubber strips for the 2 rear quarter windows. The shift boot will also need to be replaced. The hood hinges will also need attention, the weld on the inner fenders broke on both sides. THE car is a 1983, however EBAY will not accept the 17 digit VIN I entered so I had to put it as a 1980!
