During its in-depth restoration, the car's solid, fiberglass body was thoroughly massaged to correct most of the typical waves and ripples that came standard from GM's St. Louis manufacturing facility. With those cosmetic semantics complete, a finishing phase took the form of aggressive block sanding. And finally, everything was layered in correct Goodwood Green base, sealed in glossy clear and buffed to a fantastic, wet-look shine. With this Sting Ray, the idea was to create a super nice classic that can be driven without worry. Whether that means an excellent original piece was refinished to like-new condition, or fresh reproduction items were installed, the car's caretakers certainly ensured its appearance is both accurate and impressive. At the front of this old school street queen, bullet-style marker lights, show worthy bumpers and a red, white and black cross-flag emblem cage a stainless egg crate grille. Behind that grille, brazen "427" emblems adorn a striped, '67-exclusive stinger hood. At the sides of that hood, simple heat extractors ride between traditional door handles, a classy bowtie mirror, and chambered and shielded side pipes. Opposite those pipes, straight stainless trim complements a clean combination of clear and tinted glass. And behind that glass, familiar Corvette tail lamps illuminate a chrome-trimmed fuel filler and correct "Corvette STING RAY" emblem above a chrome-trimmed tag bracket and two more show worthy bumpers. It's hard not to notice a second generation Corvette, especially in a spectacular coat of Goodwood Green. When the juice hits the cylinders, reliable, chrome-capped ignition sparks fresh, stainless-sleeved wires while a stock cam and rotating assembly push spent gases through restored exhaust manifolds. Cooling for that fire is provided by a beefy radiator, which hangs in front of a big, belt-driven fan. And overall, this Chevy's tidy engine compartment is exceptionally well-done; framing a modern alternator, fresh brake booster and correct GM hoses in bright decals and clean, Satin Black fenders. Not surprisingly, the bottom of this pavement-pounding Vette is solid, clean and ready to roll. Behind the awesome big block, a tough Muncie 4-speed spins a stout posi-traction differential around beefy 3.70 gears. Turns come courtesy of modern power steering. A full assortment of disc brakes provides solid, confident stops. Impressive, true-dual exhaust funnels spent gases through correctly chambered side pipes. The car's solid, Satin Black floors perfectly complement a straight, Satin Black chassis. All that reliable hardware rolls on correct bolt-ons, which spin 7.75-15 BF Goodrich Silvertown redlines around 'black bowtie' center caps. And details like stainless fluid lines, fresh shocks and a familiar stainless fuel tank ensure years of carefree cruising. Open this C2's tossable doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that appears to have been completely replaced during the car's extensive rebirth. Seating comes courtesy of firm leather thrones, which are anchored between fresh seatbelts, bright stainless trim and a small console that's centered on a fully functional shifter. From the driver's perch, a traditional clock and Delco AM/FM radio ride between rebuilt gauges and an aluminum-trimmed glove box. Below that dash, like-new carpet balances color-keyed floor mats between fresh stainless sills. Above those sills, chrome-trimmed door panels hang monochromatic accents between small armrests, traditional handles and correct power windows. In front of the driver, a satin-spoked steering wheel spins around a brilliant cross-flag emblem.
