1997 Ford Cobra SVT Mustang Magazine Project Car! Selling this one for a friend. A Rare Chance to get a professionally built car at a fraction of the cost of the build. All of you hardcore Mustang fans may already know this car. For those of you who don't, it was a test bed for the new Overhead Cam engine. When Ford Cancelled the beloved 5.0 push rod engine, no one had built up a 4.6 before. Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords took delivery of this car to do just that, they called it Superfly. Everything was tried--Long tube headers, short tube headers, different throttle bodies, you name it--the goal was a "streetable" 12 second car, which they achieved at 11.95 seconds in the 1/4 mile at 113mph). Editorial director, and owner of the car, decided after 14 years, this mule needed a new heart, Enter Livernois Motor Sports, who built a 5.3l (323 cid) Pro Street Shortblock with CNC Machined Cobra Heads and Custom Cams, a Mach 1 intake, and throttle body. Add to this the already heady list of upgrades; 9QT Oil Pan, 6-Speed T-56, long tube headers, adjustable racing suspension, Roush Big Brakes, 4.10 Posi w/FRPP Gears, Cobra R Wheels w/Nitto 555 Tires, frame ties, Mach 460 Stereo...Only the Best! The new engine built, and tuned, by Livernois Motor Sports in Detroit was installed in 2012. It now produces more than the original project car, dyno'd at 519HP and 471 lbs/ft torque. This is a car you can take to the Drag Strip, Road Course, Work, or the movies without a burp, or hiccup. I got a ride in it, and its better than Coffee in the Morning! After 19 years, it more than proved its point and needs a new home. New owner will get a binder with magazine articles of the build (both of them). Car is Street Legal and has current E Check from Ohio. Any negatives? Yes, there is a windshield chip, and the upper part of the drivers door was repainted, but not very well--see photos.
