Vehicle Detail
Meet Lucy, my 1975 Westie. She is in ready to be fixed up condition. My daily driver, starts every time and has always been very dependable. I got all new brakes in December, new wiper blades and driver window mechanism. She is ready for a fun camping trip as she is, but would also love to be restored and spoiled a bit! So, if I were going to keep her, this is what I would like to fix: 1) Heater/defrost doesnt work. We think its a cable needs to be replaced, cheap fix just haven't done it. 2) Cracked windshield, 3) Speedometer doesn't work. Ive had it looked at just briefly while the brakes were being changed. It wasnt the immediate known fix, so further investigation is needed. For me, it's not a big deal because its really easy to know how fast youre going in an old VW....slow! 4) Gas gauge is iffy. It works fine from full to half tank, then goes down real quick from half to empty. I avoid problems by treating half tank as empty, but ideally, this would be fixed. 5) Broken light cover at the rear left drivers side. I dont know what it's called or why its there. I think it flashes with the left turn signal. 6)The two front seats need new upholstery. I have torn up seat covers on them. 7) The drivers side panel is removed. We put new window mechanics in and tore the panel on removal. 8) Neither front windows have properly working cranks to get them up or down, its just the little arms themselves, the window works fine. 9) Also during that window fix, we removed the stereo speakers and havent fixed them. So no music. When there are speakers, its got a one disc cd player, MP3 hook up, removable face. 10) No window cranks on the back louvered windows. I think I have them somewhere, but no guarantees. 11) The horn doesn't work.We had it rekeyed and it it unwired the horn. Likewise, the VW emblem in the center of the steering wheel is missing. 12) We have the sink, but it is not installed. Ive never had it installed and am not sure it's the correct sink. 13) Her paint job is awful. 14) If she were to be really pretty, the interior could use a whole bunch of reviving, but other than the front seats, the upholstery is in pretty good condition, including the camper/bed/and childs cot. 17) Lucy desperately needs a bath, waiting for a sunny day here in Oregon Her body is kinda like mine, 40 years old with a couple of dings, and could use a dye job. We grew up on the California beach and have a small bit of rust to prove it, but nothing major, just surface stuff. We're now in Oregon, and nothing leaks.. Her body is solid. I love Lucy, she's an awesome bus. I'm selling her because I got a new car now so don't need her as my daily driver, and I just don't have the know-how to have a "project" car, I know someone can love her better than I can. You will need to pick her up in Oregon, or arrange shipping. I have no idea how to do that, but am happy to drive her somewhere local to send her off if need be.
